The War Is Over, It Ended May 2, Let’s Celebrate

We need a real celebration like when Abraham Lincoln granted pardons at the end of the Civil War.

Today we see people in the streets cheering, champagne at Ground Zero flowing, the far wilder beer bash at the end of World War II included drunken sailors in a fistfight in glee, which my father's first story of his pacifist interventionism, was getting them to stop. The Germans back then celebrated as well. President Truman ordered the soldiers in Europe to stay, but they came home anyway. It wasn't even mutiny. They heard his orders as gibberish as they packed their bags and headed home. Today ordinary Muslims also feel relief, though not as much as the Germans did after World War II,

Michael Moore in his insightful piece which I appreciate said he wanted to cheer until he saw 9/11 victims getting wild at ground zero,

Had Michel Moore watched the drunken sailors misbehaving in celebration, would he have criticized the ending of World War II? Moore claims Hitler’s death wasn’t celebrated, only the end of World War II. Hitler’s death was a tenuous announcement not headlines everywhere with the radio constantly repeating it. Moore as I’m sure you remember bin Laden’s death was announced tenuously in the past without any celebration following that earlier announcement. A major difference in that victory-relief bash at the end of World War II and today’s celebration is that the experts are denying it’s over despite what the ordinary people without politics (and world affairs) always on their mind in their guts knew and felt that the war is now over. Peace leaders like Sen. Barbara Boxer, Reps. Dennis Kucinich and Walter Jones are calling for a funds cut off in six months, not an immediate stop to the war against the Taliban who wasn’t harboring bin Laden after all. Demand no more funds now unless there is an order to stay in place, rather than advancing on the Taliban unless another American is killed after the stay in place order, and a Congressional funds cut off unless US demands become reasonable such as leaving with only the condition that the Taliban not immediate attack Kabul, making Kabul a temporary autonomous region something like Hong Kong is to China. Afghan President Karzai begged the Saudis to mediate but they said “no” unless the Taliban renounce bin Laden first, US peace leaders should join Karzai in requesting a mediator, that the US even ask the Taliban to propose a mediator. Congress with the threat of a funds cut off must demand a 30 day drone-war cutoff to allow the Taliban or the Saudis to propose something.

Michael Moore again thank you for bringing facts into the discussion, in your claim bin Laden should have been taken alive. However Saddam was taken alive and at the time Saddam with a thermometer in his mouth seemed a perfect ending, but Saddam’s many victims turning his trial into a lynch-mob that I am glad didn’t get repeated with bin Laden. A picture-perfect ending might have been for one Navy Seal being a 9/11 relative who managing to stop the other Navy Seals from killing bin Laden, and all the argument on why bin Laden is still alive revolving around him, rather than on Obama. Less perfect endings would be a bound-up bin Laden trying to push himself and a Navy Seal out of a helicopter that was maneuverings to avoid bullets, or a suicidal bin Laden supporter trying to disrupt the trial.

The new Charles Manson who tried to impose Helter Skelter on the world can hurt us no more, bring out the beer, champagne or better yet all join in a Sufi-Muslim (Holy Roller type) prayer session with its singing and dancing. Note more Sufi died when there religious sites were attacked during prayer because bin Laden believed Sufism gave Islam a soft underbelly than the Americans who died on 9/1l. Bin Laden among other things wanted to make the Muslim world temporarily more miserable for a righteous future for us all. Charles Manson tried to make the world a puppet on his strings; getting Blacks and Whites to fight until massive destruction led to the end “of a harsh winter”, to where “a wonderful spring time would emerge, and a million flowers bloom”,

Michael Moore your article when Saddam was captured was sarcastic not full of praise for Bush for at least not killing him,

The way Saddam was attacked before being hanged in the mob-scene execution doesn’t encourage future Presidents to repeat such a capture. Another precedent was the Spanish police rushing the al Qaeda terrorists with stun guns who were responsible for the Madrid commuter train backpack bombings, where the terrorists blew themselves up taking a police officer with them. Why not complain about the drone attacks following bin Laden’s capture which let all the evidence trails evaporate like a drone attack on bin Laden would have. But thanks again for your insight. without it, my points looked like this,
my.firedoglake.com/richardkanepa/2011/05/09/peace-movement-get-over-it-peace-is-still-possible/

President Lincoln tried to heal the Civil War by granting pardons. Today probational amnesty could be granted to every al Qaeda member who turns himself in. Where they would wear a tracking leg bracelet, and a listening device around their necks and a loud siren go off whenever the two devices are more than four feet apart. Any al Qaeda member so dangerous that even this wouldn’t be safe could be promised if they turn themselves in ahead of the exposed computer files, leading to their demise, would be promised a fancy hotel-room style jail cell where he could call, and talk to, or curse at guards 24 hours a day or at least until a guard gets hurt.

The UN must accept Gadhafi’s lying peace proposals providing he too agree on being outfitted with permanent tracking and listening devices, and a UN order to seize any bank account of any individual or corporation trying to help thwart the listening tracking gear. If some of the local opposition doesn’t agree to a ceasefire then France and Qatar must remove themselves from the joint NATO UN activities as long as they continue aiding rebels. The UN doesn’t have the authority to take away the right to UN votes, but does have the authority to prevent France from other activities. Any still fighting rebels would have limited help while Colonel Gadhafi had tight controls over how he fights with them.

Anyone who thinks they see major flaws in my points please answer with more deep discussion like I presented to Michael Moore. I want, in all cases, to prefer life to death, and would appreciate reading a scenario where bin Laden lived from capture to kangaroo court lynch-mob type justice (similar to what happened to Saddam), or how a dignified trial might somehow be the result. Michael Moore, I really appreciate how your general insight and effort made this country and our world a better place to live. Noam Chomsky, I defend you against the vicious smears but nevertheless are now less willing to believe Israel is almost solely responsible for the problems there. Hamas, at first I was furious at Israel when I thought Israel killed an Italian peace activist, until Hamas exposed al Qaeda for the crime. Thank you Hamas for preventing al Qaeda from turning the Middle East into Helter Skelter.

The war is over peace is here, we don’t have to close our eyes to see it, but open them real wide.
