Comments

We are concerned about a recent drift towards vitriol in the RSN Reader comments section. There is a fine line between moderation and censorship. No one likes a harsh or confrontational forum atmosphere. At the same time everyone wants to be able to express themselves freely. We'll start by encouraging good judgment. If that doesn't work we'll have to ramp up the moderation.

General guidelines: Avoid personal attacks on other forum members; Avoid remarks that are ethnically derogatory; Do not advocate violence, or any illegal activity.

Remember that making the world better begins with responsible action.

Good to hear the whole quote! Good to see people not afraid to tell it like it is and the ones who don't like what he says are just burying their heads in the sand, the truth hurts get over it. Live it Love it move on. Mr Manning is trying to show Americans what is wrong with our leaders because they sure won't tell us themselves. Bringing light where darkness evil lies haters bask in all the money they get from wars. Broke Americas United Union as well.

Bravo. The corporate media certainly isn't giving us the truth to which journalists once aspired. Bradley Manning is a true patriot.

Bradley Manning is a hero. By placing his highest allegiance on the Constitution and its protection he is prepared to sacrifice the rest of his life. If our leadership was so inclined, what a difference this might make. Too bad that lives based on such high principle are so rare. Sad that so few are as willing to do the right thing. Even more tragic...that having a backbone is so incredibly rare in our culture. Manning deserves to be emulated by his generation, and all of us.

Daniel you are so right! Bradley Manning is a HERO who upholds the constitution which Bush and Obama no not respect! In fact Bush once said it is a piece of paper to him. This shows you that Bush lost all respect for the constitution. Right then when he said this Bush should have been impeached! You see people who tell the TRUTH go to jail and presidents who are liars get honored by having libraries built for them.

This shows me that fundamentally this democracy is NOT a democracy but a corporate Tyranny where anything goes in order to make a rotten dollar.

Those who conspire against Manning now aren't taking their oath seriously.

Brave people like Ellsberg and Manning or Assange don't come around that often, experience and history show that they almost never get respect for what they do, until long after they are gone. Let's hope that they live a happy and long life, and that their efforts are appreciated in their life time and in history, because the right result of ending this Afghanistan atrocity was achieved. Long may they live!!

Ellsberg accurately says the oath of a soldier is not to some fuhrer but to the Constitution. Yet it looks likely that Bradley Manning will be prosecuted. Prosecuted by whom? Well, by someone who believes Bradley Manning should have been loyal to some fuhrer rather than to the Constitution. But who could that be? Well, it could only be by some Chief Law Enforcement Officer who thinks of himself as a fuhrer rather than as a servant of the Constitution. But if America has ever been blighted by raising such a monster to the presidency, surely by now we have corrected course and replaced that monster.

Haven't we?
