The desperately poor exist on a kind of SUBLIMINALLY asocial level. Subalternity is the academic term for the despeately poor. They experience life in a totally different way, because the social pressures to perform socially have been replaced by the even greater pressures to survive.

Instead of HAVING any intentions, social intentions, moral intentions, etc., the desperately poor only have their instincts and intuitions.
As a result they are necessarily free from having any emotions at all, because emotional defensiveness can only emerge when and if the flight or flight instinct has taken a "back seat". The desperately poor have all their energies, physical and emotional, diverted to survival.

Instead of labelling and stigmatizing the desperately poor as sociopathic, psychopathic, etc., we need, if it is at all even virtually possible, to "walk in the shoes", or sometimes, in the bare feet, of the desperately poor amd/or the desperately oppressed.

Rather than being judged on their level of social compliance, performance, etc.,the deperately poor and the desperately oppressed need to be "judged" by their deperately poor peers on their EXPERIENCIAL EXISTENCE, and/or by their own reflection or communication.

Of course communication can really only be realistically forthcoming from the desperately poor, etc., when and only when, and if, they survive long enough to be able to reflect on their extreme poverty, oppression, etc., experiences.

This is because extreme poverty may put even the most basic communication in a kind of state of shock, a sort of social autism. To be held accountable, judged, etc., when having to deal with immanent, life and death issues is the height of absurdity and the basis for much satire and dark humor.

AFTER surviving extreme poverty, deprivation, oppression, the survivors of deperate poverty can "pay" us both forward and back, with the "poverty capital" of their survival.
