On February 10, 2007, Barack Obama declared his candidacy for president in Springfield, Illinois. One week later he repeated his stump speech in Las Vegas, Nevada in front of about 2500 people and I was there. On February 12, 2007, under the umbrella organization, Organizing For America (OFA), I started a local group, Dixie4Obama, and started a blog in support of his candidacy. I continued that blog until early 2011 when OFA stopped supporting the blogs of those who supported the President. My blog and all others were moved to another server that Google could not find. I had tried the other activities suggested by OFA, but blogging was what I liked to do best. What's a blogger to do? I thought about starting two blogs of my own, one to support the President and one for other material. Then I decided to combine all my posts in one blog. Thus on July 12, 2011, www.bell-book-candle.com was born.

In seven years, the combined total of blog posts has now exceeded 3800. I will continue writing as long as I am able and as long as necessary to see that social justice triumphs in America. I naively thought the job was done when Barack was elected in 2008, but the GOP have not accepted the will of the people yet. I expect that when the tenth anniversary rolls around in February, 2017, that my total of posts will be between 5000 and 6000. Let's not wait until then to accomplish our goal of passing President Obama's agenda. Capturing the House and a super majority in the Senate in 2014 will make it happen this year and put an end to GOP obstruction.
