Open Letter to Obama 2012 Donors and Bundlers

Dear Donors and Bundlers,

Before the election, I read about how some of you that made sizable investments in our president in 2008 were disappointed and reluctant to give again to his campaign in 2012 because of the lack of returned phone calls, thank yous, and the like. I heard reports that not even a card came in the mail. Most would feel slighted, used, and even taken advantage of, as I would have. I understand the expectation to receive at least a small nod of gratitude from the Big Man himself. Had I made a substantial donation, I would have wanted, at minimum, a perfunctory two minute phone call. Even someone that is running a country can make a call, no? But, I am not a big donor, I am a small one and in 2008 and 2012, I gave to the campaigns what little I could – twenty dollars here, ten there, twenty-five there. I scraped together a little bit for our future as a country despite the relative losses we in my household felt. Some of us could only give three dollars. Some, even less. The President didn't thank us directly for those either, and I do not expect him to.

The way I see it, we weren't making investments (big and small) into a victory for Barack Obama. We were making investments into a victory for us – The American People. So, while a token of gratitude from our dear Prezi may or may not be forthcoming, I hope you can accept, in it's place, my heartfelt thanks for your generosity. So, this is it, America:

To every one of you that made a financial investment in our amazing win last week – Thank You. You helped make it possible.

To the big bundlers - in today's political landscape tarnished by Citizen's United, you made a considerable difference, and I thank you as well. This historic moment could not have happened without you.

This open letter of gratitude from a regular person in a small MO town is not the only thanks you deserve, but I hope it is enough.

Warmly,
Rebecca
