They Should Have Seen It Coming
Everyone is talking about the bizarre speech given by Clint Eastwood at the RNC. People have commented on it, dissected it, and blamed others for it.
Because Romney and his people gave Clint Eastwood carte blanche they allowed the 82 year old actor to completely remove Romney from the stage at the point when the spotlight should have been on him. No one can tell you what Romney said or did in accepting the nomination of his party. There are no rousing quotes which bring the country together. No amazing photo ops which reaffirm the logic of the nomination.
There’s just the old man and the seat.
And thanks to Clint, who believes in gay marriage, pro-choice and is an anti-war Libertarian, a man who worked on TV for years and as a director understands show timing better than most, that seat was filled by Barack Obama and Mitt Romney was the one who was out of sight, out of mind.
So why would Romney and his campaign give such an important moment to someone whose core beliefs are diametrically opposed to the Republican platform?
Because they didn’t do their homework, they thought they were getting ‘Dirty Harry’ the Republican.
If they had done their homework, they would have know better. Now they are stuck publicly thanking a man for putting a mirror up to their insanity, who knocked their nominee out of prime time and who replaced their candidate in the minds of Americans with the man already occupying the chair, the President of the United States.
They don't even realize they've been rickrolled.

Comments
We are concerned about a recent drift towards vitriol in the RSN Reader comments section. There is a fine line between moderation and censorship. No one likes a harsh or confrontational forum atmosphere. At the same time everyone wants to be able to express themselves freely. We'll start by encouraging good judgment. If that doesn't work we'll have to ramp up the moderation.
General guidelines: Avoid personal attacks on other forum members; Avoid remarks that are ethnically derogatory; Do not advocate violence, or any illegal activity.
Remember that making the world better begins with responsible action.
