The Last Republican Hero

In regards to the political realm and my involvement I aim to call it right down the middle. I don’t have time to choose sides when our future as Americans is in question. This is why I want to throw myself into heavy research on the next Republican hopeful; John Ellis “Jeb” Bush. The former two-term governor of Florida and perspective candidate for Vice President is definitely smart for staying out of the spotlight, while Romney plays himself as a patsy for this election. To go hard in the upcoming candidacy would just be a money dump. He would be better off blowing it in Vegas. President Obama hasn’t plateaued yet. Give it two years and the democrats, as well as America will be reeling on a national scale. Ideologies don’t change, especially when intertwined with party and pride. Of course this is what makes America run. The fact that we choose who we want to be in office makes America stand above the rest.

I personally have no idea why the Republican Party is going with Romney, it’s probably because he has the money to waste. I saw the candidates the Republicans were trotting out to run against Obama, and truthfully, it was like a side-show. The immoral, the heathen, the morbid, and the ignorant all came out. So why was Jeb Bush’s name not in the ring? I stand bewildered, unless of course you figure reason and patience into the equation. The reasoning being that Obama hasn’t fully shot himself in the proverbial foot yet. Morally, ethically and economically he has, at least in my eyes. But with the media it takes more than wars, a further collapsing economy and joblessness to promote inadequacy. It takes a stronger opponent waiting in the wings. I’ve always seen the Bush family as chess players. George Senior waited his turn and had plenty of pawns to maneuver. So why would his progeny be any different? We are talking about eight years of authority. Jeb has been groomed to the highest degree. He may come off as the black sheep of the family dodging politics for years, chasing the dollar and making connections, but that is politics. As I said well-groomed; he left the spotlight to secure his roots and let his older brother take office.

Jeb always marched to his own tune, recently the rogue Republican posted on Twitter; “The political system is hyper-partisan.” He’s right, both sides are at fault. Nobody is saying that aloud, we are all thinking it. Both sides are at fault. The two American buffalos have locked horns and no one will budge, unfortunately it only hurts the economy and our wellbeing as Americans. Even the fact that Jeb refers to Reagan’s politics as outdated in the realm of the GOP is refreshing. It is a patient and smart move not to jump on a bandwagon with a broken wheel. To join Romney would be political suicide; and for the Republican Party it makes sense to sit and play rope-a-dope while Obama punches himself out and gets sloppy.

Don’t get me wrong, Jeb has had his fair share of public controversy. His best known was the 2000 Presidential election and the infamous Florida recount. Jeb is also known for signing “Terri’s Law” that permitted the Governor to keep Teresa Schiavo on life support with irrevocable brain damage. Two years later the law was ruled unconstitutional by the Florida Supreme Court. But he should be credited for his compassion. He also directed the changing of death by electric chair to death by lethal injection. In the range of Republican hopefuls, Jeb hulks in comparison. Jeb is strong on immigration, stronger than Romney. Jeb recently said; "Don't just talk about Hispanics and say immediately we must have controlled borders. Change the tone would be the first thing. Second, on immigration, I think we need to have a broader approach.” We can take that as tightening the borders on a local or more global scale. The fact is Jeb is willing to lay down more of an iron-fist than Mitt when it comes to the security of our nation, and is also known to cut public funding, which in the Republican’s eyes works. So why Romney? It’s not Romney. I don’t believe for a minute that the Republican Party takes Mitt seriously. Jeb on the other hand, if he gets in, will seem like the second coming. For Jeb Bush to run with Romney as a Vice President just sounds wrong. It’s also a waste unless he plans to make Romney look bad. At the end of the day we all know that Jeb doesn’t need the dirty tactics. He could beat out Romney for the spot with his eyes closed. The smart move is to wait, which I believe he will do. His track record is nothing short of successful on all ends, from politics to real estate. So Republican Party, be patient. You will be on top once again, and the Bush name will be back in office.

Godspeed,

Doug Jackson

This Democrat and Liberal might have been given pause to consider voting Republican if Jeb Bush had been in the running. Sadly, the Republican Party has been co-opted by the lunatic, paranoid, know-nothing, right-wing that is not representative of the majority of Americans. The Republicans will lose in November 2012. Jeb may be able to salvage the Republicans in 2016.

"Both sides are at fault."

This false equivalence is getting old. Show some examples of real policy that's been addressed by Congress and the White House. One party is clearly obstructing any reasonable solution to any of our problems and it's not the Democrats.

Take a look at Ryan's budget that Romney supports. It's nothing but the Republicans playing politics in an election year. Conservative and liberal experts agree that we have to raise revenue and cut spending if we ever hope to address the $14 trillion debt. Most of which was caused by this Reaganomics, trickle down nonsense that Ryan's budget is dependent on.

If you want to be taken seriously, get your facts right--Jebby served 2 terms as governor, not 3 as you claim. And Jeb is as extreme a right-winger as they come!

Nice of the author to correct his mistake as to the number of terms; not nice of him to decline to acknowledge it.

Sorry....if Jeb Bush is anything like his father or his brother, I don't believe his interest is in leading a country that is of the people, by the people and for the people....and usually the nut doesn't fall too far from the tree. I agree with Holyone.
