Do the police think we have forgotten about Kent State? The 1968 Democratic Convention in Chicago? The framing of Rueben Carter? Do they think all the people who were beaten (and sometimes died) during war protests haven't passed on their experiences to following generations? Have we forgotten Rodney King and that travesty of a trial in Simi Valley? No...we have not!

You really want respect from us? Then be a part of the community, not the self appointed overseers of it. Treat us with respect, and you will get respect in return. We don't want to hate or despise you...we want to be friendly and cordial with law enforcement personnel. But the actions of 'bad apples' and the unwillingness of the good cops to come forward leave us little choice except to view the police with suspicion.

Your constant parroting of "If you've done nothing wrong, you have nothing to fear" is the Party line of the far right. Oppression of those whose freedoms you are obviously envious will only lead to more suspicion and distrust among We The People.

There is a storm brewing. It is social as well as political. When this storm finally does release its destructive energy, I can only hope that the police remember they are supposed to be protecting and serving The People...not a bank, not a politically minded superior officer, not The Government....but Us...that's you and me, the average 'Joe the Plumber' who works hard all day, pays their taxes, and expects to be left alone to enjoy a good dinner and the game on TV. But if things keep going the way they have, we will defend to the death ourselves, our homes, and the lives of those dear to us with a force you can never conquer or expect to subjugate.

We are America. We are the Sleeping Giant. And the alarm clock is about to go off.
