YOU MUST TAKE ACTION NOW TO STOP TPP

By Robert Reich, Robert Reich's Blog

02 May 15

he heinous Trans Pacific Partnership is now moving in Congress. Its not really about trade most tariffs are now low but about making the world safer for global corporations. It allows big global corporations to sue countries for health, safety, environmental, and labor protections that reduce corporate profits. Its so-called labor and environmental protections are unenforceable. And rather than strengthen Americas hand against China (as its proponents claim), it only strengthens the hands of giant American-based corporations whose loyalty is to their shareholders rather than to the United States. (These corporations will do whatever China wants if it helps their bottom lines.)

Its a bad deal for Americans. Please call your senators and your representative and tell them you dont want the Trans Pacific Partnership, and you dont want fast-track that allows it to speed through Congress without debate or amendment.

We are concerned about a recent drift towards vitriol in the RSN Reader comments section. There is a fine line between moderation and censorship. No one likes a harsh or confrontational forum atmosphere. At the same time everyone wants to be able to express themselves freely. We'll start by encouraging good judgment. If that doesn't work we'll have to ramp up the moderation.

General guidelines: Avoid personal attacks on other forum members; Avoid remarks that are ethnically derogatory; Do not advocate violence, or any illegal activity.

Remember that making the world better begins with responsible action.

Pastor Jamal Bryant you are a true prophet shedding light to the silence of Black Churches. All Christians must rise up and be true to the message of Christ. He stood up to the Sanhedrin to the corruption and the injustices of his time and was imprisoned and later assassinated. It is time to mobilize all people who have a belief in a higher power. We need to stand for truth, for justice, for the poor and the disenfranchised and be critical of our leaders no matter what color they are. The people will prevail and yes WE SHALL OVERCOME!

The picture of the reflecting pool stirs thoughts of what a stack of $1 bills equivalent to the $7.77 trillion secretly lent/guaranteed to or for the banks (not the total $29 trillion provided for them) would look like. It would fill the reflecting pool with a pile 422 feet higher than the 555'5" Washington Monument only partially shown in the back ground. The total height of 977' is almost as tall as the pool is long.

Imagining that pile of $1 bills, secretly lent, and more than half the size of our GDP, seems a bit uneven in the fairness department.

Unfortunately, the Black church and most other churches leadership is part of the elite. Just ask where most of them do their banking. One of the banks that will keep coming up would be 'Bank of America'. The Black church and many Black organizations buy into capitalism big time. Therefore, they have a conflict of interest in their goals and faith. Also, if this side of the OWS get too much attention, Paster Jamal Bryant, personal character will be put on display in an effort bring down this movement. He isn't the best person to use as the face for this action.

Don't let the bastards get you down.

Anti-religion creeps are not spokesmen for the Occupy movement. No way.

More likely they are rightie shills, sent out by dirty tricks operations to befoul pro-democracy web sites.

Remember this quote? "Democracy isn't the solution to our problems. Democracy is the problem."

Oh. That's not exactly how Reagan phrased it. He and his crowd didn't like Dr. King or Gandhi either.
