Fox: New Evidence Hillary Killed Lincoln

By Andy Borowitz, The New Yorker

13 May 13

The article below is satire. Andy Borowitz is an American comedian and New York Times-bestselling author who satirizes the news for his column, "The Borowitz Report."

n what may be the most serious allegation ever made against the former Secretary of State, Fox News Channel reported today that Hillary Clinton was involved in the conspiracy to murder President Abraham Lincoln.

The latest charge against Mrs. Clinton was reported by Fox host Sean Hannity, who said that the evidence of her role in the Lincoln assassination came mainly in the form of e-mails.

According to Mr. Hannity, "If it's true that Hillary Clinton killed Lincoln, this could have a major impact on her chances in 2016."

The accusation against Mrs. Clinton drew a strong response from Sen. Lindsey Graham (R.-S. Carolina): "There's been a concerted effort by Hillary Clinton to cover up her role in President Lincoln's murder. She has said nothing about it. This is bigger than Watergate, the Cuban missile crisis, and the Second World War put together."

Responding to the allegation, Mrs. Clinton issued a terse statement indicating that she could not have participated in Lincoln's assassination because she was born in 1947.

"That's what she wants us to believe," Sen. Graham said.

Sen. Graham is correct. While Secretary of State she naturally would have had access to the President's time machine. Her date of birth is probably a fiction or just irrelevant.
The evidence is mounting proving the existence of the President's time machine. First it was his obviously lame attempt to travel back in time and insert his name into a birth notice in a Hawian nwspaper, now we have Hillary altering historical documents that prove her involvement.

The time machine is the only possible explanation, since both Obama and Hillary never say anything true! I wonder how many times we have already impeached him and jailed her?

While this is all very humorous, facts are that Hitlary herself is a ruthless and amoral power monger who will do anything to advance her own political career; this is not just the opinion of Faux News. Many progressives share it. But her ways are the standard operating procedure in current politics for both parties. Neither represents the interests of ordinary people and both are corrupt beyond your wildest dreams. That understanding is missing in the satirical article.

And, that is not funny.

Such typical Republican backward thinking, I hesitate to comment upon it. However, upon reflection it occurs to me that to leave JTHinSD in his dark ignorance would be an act of cruelty when compared to the relative ease it would take to unburden his mind of false ideas.

Herewith I will speak directly to the subject of JTHinSD's comment regarding satire and the subject yours truly has just introduced, to wit, false ideas.

Satire, when effective, will only be presented by a person in possesion of arguments on one side of a discussion, but also a better than passing familiarity with the opposing view. When presenting an argument favoring one side it is required by the standards of satire to present the opposing view only exagerating one or maybe a few aspects of that view. The effect being to ridicule that vierwpoint being opposed so that the one favored appears as less ridiculous.

Obviously, such a subtle form of argument by the virtue of requiring a knowledge of an entire argument and a strict format of presentation negates the very idea that satire is by its nature intellectually stunted. I would theby conclude that your comment is expressing a false idea.

Being lost in literalism is symptomatic of the right wing. They are unable to appreciate flights of fancy, one of many reasons why Calvinist types are right wingers and right wingers are Calvinist types.

But normal people understand that making fun of an opponent is much more effective, especially when the "fun" is so close to reality, than attack. Graham wouldn't have any way to retort to this without reinforcing his reputation of being a dweeb, and any attempt to do so would just make things worse for him. An attack, however, would mobilize his supporters and make him look like a martyr.

Even after 150 years, I wouldn't want to look like that! Or like Lindsay Graham for that matter.

A little known fact is that Lindsay Graham is actually the cryogenic remains of John C. Frémont who was the nominee of the Repugnican dissidents in the 1864 election but withdrew to support Lincoln and never got over it.

The cryogenic remains were revived by the fizz from a case of warm Pepsi donated by Indra Nooyi who enlisted Fremont, er Lindsay, to assist in efforts to prevent Bloomberg's restriction of soda-serving volume, known in Repugnican circles as the SS Conspopiracy.

It is expected that once the CO2 from the fizz dissipates and no longer produces a warming effect, Lindsay will revert to being a cadaver.

Very cute.

If one believes that the failure to attempt to rescue the two guys at the Benghazi Annex is negligent homicide, of course, one might view the attempt to unravel what happened that night in a different light.

Democrats in general have been trying to write off the whole thing as "political maneuvering." OK, there is certainly evidence that the motivations of many conservatives are political but their motivations are completely irrelevant. This excuse merely addresses motivation and not the content of the arguments being made. Who told the troops to stand down and not rescue their comrades? It may or may not have been Clinton or Obama but it was certainly SOMEBODY and that somebody should be prosecuted.

And then there is the whole issue of the administration intentionally lying to the public about the murders. If you think that covering up one's foreign policy failures for political gain is acceptable, one wonders why all the fuss when Republicans trip themselves up on similar issues.

Apply the same standards to yourselves as you apply to others.

No, Lee, the Republicans are histrionically hysterical over the possibility that a woman president might succeed the black president they abhor. They will seize on, and twist, any tragedy to propagate their venom against the target of their hate. Historically in these United(?) States, racism and misogyny have been the twin scourges of social discourse and action, and are often found in close proximity in their prevailing malice. And that's not limited to the South.

What content? You are merely listing the Republican press releases. None of the "shocking revelations"hav e actually been shocking or revelations.

Get over it. Were mistakes made? Possibly. Is there information we don't have? Likely. But the reason has been provided. The place was an Fing CIA outpost. That is clear. How large, we don't know. Even Julian Assange has more respect for intelligence community than to do what the Republicans are doing here. I know most think this is about stopping the Hillary juggernaught, but it is really about discrediting everything that every Democrat ever did or will do by making it appear that they only act on political expediency. And how easy is that when the entire truth may put CIA operatives and operations at risk.
Those Republicans, real patriots (sic), give me an F-ing break.

@ Lee

"Who told the troops to stand down and not rescue their comrades? It may or may not have been Clinton or Obama but it was certainly SOMEBODY and that somebody should be prosecuted."

And what would you have them charged with? The same crime others would use to prosecute another political leader for either intentionally or negligently putting us through a costly war with thousands of deaths only to find there never was any WMD? A door, once opened, tends to swing both ways. History reveals they're all swingers.

What is so amusing about this topic is how much it shows the degree of fear the Republicans harbor for Hilary Clinton. I am sure this is because they remember her husband's effectiveness against them, and they know she is at least as good a politician.

Clinton is far from my ideologically favorite choice for president. But if she can inspire such trembling in her Republican opponents, there is a lot to be said for her candidacy.

The Rs, of course, won't let anyone know that they are the ones who cut the funding for the defense of our Ambassadors. This is true, not satire. So now we know why they want to blame Hillary and the President, just to throw people off the fact that it was the fault of the Rs that there wasn't enough protection and that those 4 people died because of their own failures, but we know how they operate, it is always "blame the President" to them. It is looking like a choice will have to be made come election time.
Which woman should go on the top of the ticket.
Hillary has a more impressive resume but Elizabeth been merciless in her own attempt to right the wrongs leading up to the sub-prime meltdown.
Going to be a difficult decision.
