Bernie Sanders on Biden's Claim He'll Endorse Hillary: 'We're Not There Quite Yet'

By Harper Neidig, The Hill

ernie Sanders wouldn't confirm Vice President Joe Biden's claim that he plans to endorse Hillary Clinton but didn't refute Biden's recap of their past conversation.

During an interview with MSNBC’s “All in With Chris Hayes” Thursday, Sanders was asked about Biden telling NPR that the Vermont senator is planning on endorsing Clinton.

“Joe and I talked about three weeks ago, and as I said, right now my hope is we can reach an agreement on some very important issues and I can go forward to the millions of people who supported me and say, ‘Look this is the progress we've made, this is where we’re gonna go as a country,’" Sanders said. "So, I hope it happens. As of this moment we’re not there quite yet.”

Biden seemed confident in Sanders's plans to endorse in his Thursday interview with NPR.

"I've talked to Bernie, Bernie's going to endorse her, this is going to work out," Biden said. "The Democrats are coalescing even before this occurs."

Sanders has so far refused to concede, opting to take advantage of his campaign’s support in order to gain concessions from Clinton, as well as from the party as it drafts its platform.

“We’re trying to do everything we can right now to make the Democratic platform most progressive platform in the history of the Democratic Party,” Sanders said Thursday night.
