A note of caution regarding our comment sections:

For months a stream of media reports have warned of coordinated propaganda efforts targeting political websites based in the U.S., particularly in the run-up to the 2016 presidential election.

We too were alarmed at the patterns we were, and still are, seeing. It is clear that the provocateurs are far more savvy, disciplined, and purposeful than anything we have ever experienced before.

It is also clear that we still have elements of the same activity in our article discussion forums at this time.

We have hosted and encouraged reader expression since the turn of the century. The comments of our readers are the most vibrant, best-used interactive feature at Reader Supported News. Accordingly, we are strongly resistant to interrupting those services.

It is, however, important to note that in all likelihood hardened operatives are attempting to shape the dialog our community seeks to engage in.

Adapt and overcome.

I certainly don't see anything controversial about this advert. This is what border walls are. We seem to have forgotten about the Israeli separation wall. It does not even run along the border of Palestine and Israel. It only walls in Palestinians and separates them from each others.

The mythology of the open door and sunlight at the end is rather childish. The US is hardly a beacon of light and hope for the poor of the world. People like the mother and daughter in this film come to America because the policies of neo-liberalism have made life impossible in their native country. It is the US that rams neo-liberalism down the world's throat.

Too bad FOX chose not to run this. We should all read the inscription on the Statue of Liberty --

"Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free, the wretched refuse of your teeming shore. Send these, the homeless, tempest-tossed to me, I lift my lamp beside the golden door!"

America should have a golden door for migrants. Obviously FOX hates what the Statue of Liberty stands for.

Emotionally strong and I will shop more at 84 lumber. But immigration is very complex and needs in-depth discussions. We can not turn our backs but neither can we take in everyone. The world is very overcrowded, but the 1% will never say this or their medias or their politicians. An eternal increase in humans is an eternal increase in consumers---but our numbers fuel climate change, deforestation, mass extinctions and fouled air and water.
