'I think people who saw [SiCKO] with an open mind knew that he made a good movie ... but he's exactly right, the movie did not have the impact that it might have had it not been for the smear campaign and the efforts to discredit both Moore and the content of the movie.' - Wendell Potter on Countdown With Keith Olbermann

A note of caution regarding our comment sections:

For months a stream of media reports have warned of coordinated propaganda efforts targeting political websites based in the U.S., particularly in the run-up to the 2016 presidential election.

We too were alarmed at the patterns we were, and still are, seeing. It is clear that the provocateurs are far more savvy, disciplined, and purposeful than anything we have ever experienced before.

It is also clear that we still have elements of the same activity in our article discussion forums at this time.

We have hosted and encouraged reader expression since the turn of the century. The comments of our readers are the most vibrant, best-used interactive feature at Reader Supported News. Accordingly, we are strongly resistant to interrupting those services.

It is, however, important to note that in all likelihood hardened operatives are attempting to shape the dialog our community seeks to engage in.

Adapt and overcome.

Is it not evident yet that we need single payer, not only to assure decent health care for all, but to utterly destroy the health insurance industry once and for all?
What on earth does it take to bring this truth home to the American people?

We need media reform. Nothing is going to change until we have real journalists and reporters and broadcasts that inform instead of act as PR for narrow interests. Our media are no better than Pravda or any dictatorship control. The difference is the folks under those media knew it for what it was and had underground transmissions and publications. So far, I have heard no outcry from he public demanding more substance and more factual content. Instead, they seem content with the sports, traffic weather, infotainment mix along with large doses of propaganda, PR for Mega-business and Palin-watching.

Truth and the American people have become strangers bumping into each other now and then but unable to speak the same language.

we knew this was coming, but had to wait for the who and the where.

Michael Moore needs a position in the President's cabinet; perhaps the secretary of TRUTH & INFORMATION ?

Micheal Moore, Keith Olbermann, Rachel Meadows, the Ed Show are just awesome!

These and many more are the vanguard of our freedoms, liberties and justice. We must do our share and join them in these endeavores. With the House of Representatives now being taken by evil forces, we must not only speak up, but take to the streets! To Hell with the GOP, the Republican Party, and the corportate bought Supreme Courts Justices (all five of them). They must not only face impeachment, discredited but also go to trial for betraying our democracy and our freedoms for seven pieces of silver. Just like all republicans, TEA Party buggers, the right wing conservatives, they sold their souls to a greedy corporate America which main purpose is to manipulate on behalf of the greedy rich!

You've said a mouthful, except that we are too far gone to do anything about it. Firstly we need to do something about all the money that it takes to run for office. Secondly, the media needs not to depend on all the money that they make from campaigner. Impeach the five Supreme Court Justices that voted in favor of Citizens United case, WON'T HAPPEN.
The only hope we have is If all of us become so well informed that we educate people we know to reverse the misinformation in media.
At a Thanksgiving dinner, Speaking with a journalist in the Los Angeles area, I was astounded when he defended military industry and the recruitment of young people choosing the military on the basis that there were no jobs for them anyway so they might as well join, at least they'll have something to do, while a couple of his spoiled, will never need to join nephews were playing military war games on their TVs.
This is the society we live in. I think that instituting the draft would be a very good idea so that the parents and loved ones of these spoiled brats kids, PLAYING war games might question the idea that this country has adapted that endless wars are okay.
