Our National Debt is an Important Voter Issue
Here are the facts.
Look at each party’s record for adding to our National Debt. Since President Reagan, the Republicans have increased our national debt by over 1.6 trillion dollars more than the Democrats. Look at who has increased the debt by the highest percents. It is the darling of the Republican Party, R Reagan by 189 percent, the second highest was President GW Bush, 89 percent, and the third highest was also a Bush, 56 percent.

Our National Debt comes from an equation. Tax revenue minus expenditures equals the debt increase (decrease).

Republican President George W. Bush increased the US debt by starting two wars AND did not increase taxes to pay for the wars, AND then, he cut taxes. This is dumb financial management! As a result of Bush’s actions, this country has gone into an economic nosedive. Except for the very wealthy, we all have experienced a down turn caused by the Republican recession. And this recession has increased the National Debt because the Federal Tax Revenue has dropped significantly. Also Medicare and Medicare cost have increased

Hurricane Katrina taught us that it took a few hours to inflict its damage and years to clean up the mess. Our economy has been equally damaged and it will take years to recover.

Democrat President Obama was forced to spend money on lifeboats because of the Republican Bush’s economy and also to spend additional money pulling out of one Bush war and gradually reducing our exposure in the second Bush war. On June 1, 2011 US News wrote that the Afghanistan War was costing $2 Billion per WEEK. The question is “Should those debt dollars be added to George W. Bush’s $5 trillion debt increase?” In addition, our National Debt has been increased by the decrease in Tax Revenue caused by the Republican recession and not from initiating expensive new programs. Should this debt be added to the Bush National Debt?

Given the Republican Party’s record, do you trust the Republican Party to manage our economy?

The Republicans have consistently complained about Big Government. The real problem is Big Money and the inordinate influence it brings with it.

When you vote in November, think about which party and which Presidents increased our National Debt.
