Pelosi: Impeach Trump

AN OPEN LETTER TO NANCY PELOSI  ON IMPEACHING TRUMP

Dear Nancy Pelosi,

Donald Trump MUST be impeached ASAP.  His presidency is a menace to life on planet earth.  In Sept 2018, the UN Secretary-General, António Guterres, stated,  “the world has less than two years to avoid runaway climate change.”  Donald Trump is doing all he can to HASTEN  runaway climate change, consistently appointing climate deniers to key cabinet posts.  He must be STOPPED.

You say that impeachment would be too divisive.  Yes, there is a deep division in this country, between the majority who seek to SAVE life on planet earth, and the core Trump followers who believe in the pernicious rapture cult.  This pseudo-Christian doctrine, well laid out in the popular “Left Behind” novels, maintains that the Bible guarantees “a new earth” to true believers, while the rest of us will be left behind to suffer the demise of the biosphere.

Many Trump supporters are simply ignorant, or believe in following any president.  However, the core group, maybe 20 million of them, are fanatical, expecting that his destructive actions will hasten the day they are waiting for.  A recent film, The Trump Prophecy, lays this out explicitly.  It is being shown in many Bible-based churches.

Unless this division, between the planet savers and the rapture cultists, is brought out into the open, Trump’s insidious undermining of our chances for survival will proceed.  Working issue by issue is way too slow for the timeline that climate change is forcing on us.  Only impeachment will make it clear what the underlying issue actually is, and force the fence-sitters to make a choice.

There is no doubt that impeachment would pass with a simple majority in the House, if you support it.  Whether the requisite 2/3 majority of Republican Senate would uphold it and force him out of office is another matter.  But even if this fails, the airing of the underlying division in the country would be worth it.

To the rapture cultists, I submit this Bible passage:

Deuteronomy 30:19 ¹⁹ I call heaven and earth to witness against you this day, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and curse; therefore choose life, that you and your descendants may live…

Nancy, please put impeachment back on the table.
