Different Kinds of Tea Partiers...

One of the posters I read has gone so far as to say there are two basic types. The Koch Bros. Tea baggers and the "Paulite" Tea baggers. The second name is a direct reference to Ron/Rand Paul. I've done some studying on these two in order to decipher whether this difference is actual or a publicity ploy to hide the intentions of people like the Koch Bros. under another layer of disguise.

The first thing I came across about Rand Paul was about an interview with CNN's Wolf Blitzer

"Last night, Kentucky elected Rand Paul (R-KY), the son of Rep. Ron Paul (R-TX), to the U.S. Senate. Speaking to CNN’s Wolf Blitzer, Paul announced his intention to do anything it takes to shield the privileged rich and corporate America."

"Paul then clarified his delusional worldview by telling Blitzer that “there are no rich” and “there are no poor.” In Paul’s mind, even taxing yachts would somehow punish the working poor in Kentucky. “We all either work for rich people or we sell stuff to rich people,”

Both quotes from here: http://thinkprogress.org/2010/11/03/rand-paul-plutocracy/

Okay, I thought, he has a different way of looking at it....then I went ahead and started looking for information on his financial backers.

The first link I tried quoted a statement from the PAC MoveOn:

"So far, $1,467,763 has been spent by corporate and right-wing special interests to help elect Rand Paul. Over $647,000 has come from Karl Rove’s front-group alone! Since the Supreme Court’s Citizens United decision, which allows unlimited secret corporate spending in politics, shadowy front groups funded by Big Oil, financial institutions, pharmaceutical companies, and others, have been spending tens of millions of dollars in support of Republican candidates. By using front-groups, corporations can hide their electoral spending."

Then of course, there was this recent article published on Care2.com, in which the illustrious Mr. Paul contends that: Preventing Black Lung Too "Burdensome" To Energy Companies

"Still, even his own home state of Kentucky seemed somewhat shocked when he stated that there is no reason to continue with any policies to help decrease the instances of black lung among coal miners, declaring any intervention or government regulation too "burdensome" on companies in comparison to the amount of lives it could potentially save."

Now why would he say such a thing??

"Black lung kills approximately 1000 miners per year, and the number of cases have doubled since 1995, when the Coal Mine Health and Safety Act was repealed. According to the paper, Paul received $136,277 in campaign contributions from mining interests during his senate run."

Makes one wonder if anyone getting that kind of cash from Karl Rove and the mining industries could honestly care about working families, the poor, the middle class???

In my humble opinion the answer is a clear NO! We learned under the Bush Presidency that people who give you that kind of money do not do so out of the goodness of their hearts or any sense of patriotic duty. They give you that kind of cash because they want something. Witness what's going on in statehouse's across the nation at the time of this writing.

So, after my two click investigation of Mr. Rand Paul, I can only conclude that he is indeed one of the Koch Bros. type Tea Partier. Just follow the money people....

As far as his Dad, Ron Paul goes, I was able to find tons of evidence that early in his political career, he received a lot of cash and backing from white supremacist groups and never once flinched as he took it. He has had to disavow his own statements published from his early journals as written by some ghost writers. As a member of a minority race, I'm probably not the best one to judge whether Ron Paul is still a racist, but the evidence from his past suggests that he was at one time. I really hope he has changed because he has a couple of ideas that really resonate with me.

He does not seem to be tainted with the Corpro-fascist money mongers that have so blatantly bought his son. Again, I hope he stays that way.

I'm no Republican and would never vote for either of them, but if backed into a corner, I would be more at ease with Ron Paul in the White House. The thought of his sleaze-bag son there makes my stomach crawl.....

So, the conclusion I came too about different kinds of Tea Partiers is: if it walks like a duck...
