Silence And Nature. Is Anyone Listening? We Are All Insurgents!

Silence and Nature

I should just leave it at that, with decades of blank space between....

But, oh well, too late.

We appear to be evolving into human E-bings (my word) and Nature ediots (my word again.) Regardless of whatever medium or message or tangental dissection we delve off into, in any direction, the soup of our lives and physical existence here on this lil blue ball twirling round sure seems to be supported entirely by the natural world, and Nature (with a capital N.)

Do we even need physical bodies anymore to experience our medium? How many of us spend any time in nature, and how much does nature even resemble it's former self? Yes change is inevitable and constant, and perhaps some changes are not in the best interests of our species or many others?

As we get further and further into the electric age of hive consciousness and 24/7 electronic connections and being "on call" (or perhaps on the phone), how many of us are even aware of the sun, the moon, or where our food and water comes from, or the disposable products which we purchase at the stores, which are mostly non-repairable, made far away by someone making slave wages, shipped vast distances, and sold by someone making a non-living wage? Or the fact that these products are made from once living and life sustaining environments? Do we even use our bodies anymore, beyond punching a keyboard or holding a remote, or vibrating sounds into a phone piece?

Few of us are ever alone or even know how to be alone, as we spend our time walking around talking on a sellphone (and being mostly unaware of the "real" world around us,) watching T.V. and all of our distractions. And, there is a growing hole of loneliness, longing, and disconnection in many peoples lives.

Have we perhaps gone too far into E land, or not far enough? Some have suggested that we suffer from Nature Deficit Disorder... That our nervous systems do better when held within the energetics of whole undisturbed Nature. And does that have a $ value perhaps?

And what "unintended" consequences are being bestowed upon all life by our wireless fervor and fever? Many suggest that with all the background noise and "electrosmog" most everywhere, we are altering the natural world in ways detrimental to all life, and not just to humans. But hey, what should we care about anything, or anybody else, as long as we get OUR money and our convenience.

And quiet you say, or silence? There is no such thing as silence in the universe. It is as rare as "nothing." Really.

Deep listening however, is possible, and rare few ever do. Nature can be deafeningly quiet, and quietly deafening. The insides of our heads are rarely quiet, and perhaps that is a function of what is outside our heads?

There was a study I saw a while back about songbirds having to shift their tones higher to counteract human noise pollution. The spectrum they moved up to did not carry or work as well, and when human noise left the area (I believe a highway was closed for a year) the songbirds reverted to their historic patterns. Life adapts, and we know not what we have lost until it is gone. We sure seem to be filling the spaces and in between the spaces, with "noise"

There is incredible beauty and wholeness and balance in nature, and while we can never be apart or separate from it, perhaps we should spend more time protecting its interests, and not corporate bottom lie (no n needed between the i & e) profits?

Perhaps we do not really need our physical bodies and can transcend them? In the meantime I suggest that we take better care of the natural world which until now has sustained our physical bodies to carry around our brains. Not that brains equate with being able to think, of course. Who needs education, and how or what do we teach is certainly another worthy question, as well as how do we work with each others beliefs and certainties, especially when we are all so "right" to the point of killing each other in our rightness.

Who WOULD Jesus kill, I wonder?

On another hand though, it does not appear that brains are what is valued? Or perhaps what we think is somehow flawed or not standardized. And what about hearts?

Perhaps Chicken Little was being overly optimistic?

We can create and build structures of love, caring, inclusion, community, beauty, and creative expression. And we can continue to shoot each other and fuel mistrust, making each other into "insurgents." Whetever the heck that means, or is that just anyone who you do not want to bother trying to understand, and you believe has no right to their beliefs?

We are all in this madhouse together, and fueling it with our tax dollars and purchases of cheap disposable junk.

We are creating cheap disposable lives.

We have work to do, and there is no time like now.

Silence?

Quiet?

Space?

Or mere noise. What is the difference or is there one? I have my ideas, what are yours?

What I am referring to is that everything is vibrating, including atoms, our blood rushing through the veins, a deafening thunderclap, and that to some degree silence and sound are relative to the sensitivity (perceptions) of the listener, and the source of the sound. Perhaps the sound of electrons flying around an atom is deafening in the proper setting, and then again perhaps our sun is just an electron to a larger atom. Kinda hard to tell. Rarely though do any of us take the time to listen, really listen, to the sounds in our environments. There are worlds there for those willing or able to listen.

Aside from transcendental silence and spiritual "nothingness" I believe true silence and nothing to be exceptionally rare, if not impossible, and anything is possible..... perhaps, with drugs, science, or creative thinking?

Or as seems to be our current state of affairs: creative non-thinking and wishful unthinking.

Few modern humans seem to value space or silence (or Nature), as evidenced by how much material stuff we accumulate and how little we stay silent.

We also seem to be pretty insensitive and unaware of that which we are not sensitive or aware of. Now that is a twisted no brainer statement, worthy of reading again, and very true. Perhaps now you have misunderstood me correctly at last, and one can only hope?

Some of us seem to be sensitive to things, energies, or realities which to others are non-evident hokum, to be dismissed, put down, ridiculed, or in some arenas to be shot at with guns and missiles.

Arguments of belief and might seem to suck so much life, through war, and that is apparently much simpler than responding to another person, or country with the willingness to try and understand another's viewpoints.

To bring it back to the "unintended consequences" consider wireless, or cell phones, wireless smart meters, and the "invisible rays" which are permeating our lives more and more by the day; there are growing numbers of people who are being negatively affected by the technology. Here is a link to a msnbc story http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/34509513/ns/health-cancer/

Some suggest that it is not so much a matter of actual radiation levels, but of resonances that our own nervous/electrical system which evolved for millennium with the earths natural fields, is altering itself to, and I don't know the science. I just know that there are many people claiming to be affected, and what are we going to do about it? Just what are the acceptable sacrifice rates, as long as it is not us of course.

We can choose to believe them or not, be angry at them or not, include them and consider them equals or not. Basically the same choices we have all the time with all topics. And I am going beyond the wireless issues here. We choose distinctions and differences which divide, or common ground and inclusiveness, and make everyone into either family to be cherished and loved or criminals to be avoided. And there is no difference really, mostly just our choices. We are all on this little spinning ball together, and just passing through at that.

What do we choose, and why, and why Do we think or believe what we do anyway?

Back to the wireless, I would suggest an analogy of being deathly allergic to peanuts or bee stings. Those of us who are allergic and have had some experiences will do everything which we can to avoid them, and those of us who are not, may well be oblivious to the possible outcomes, and likely we love peanuts, or respond to a bee sting with "ow" and no big deal.

Trouble is, more often than not, the folks who are not allergic, dismiss the allergic folks, put them down, call them names, or start shooting at them for avoiding or resisting peanuts and bees, you know, bad Americans, hurting the economy, and other stuffs. Demented loonies, terrorists, insurgents all. Or are we all just family creating distinctions and differences for a buck?

What is this place anyway?
