Rallies are good, but votes are better.

The GOP is dangerously close to having enough of a majority to pass Constitutional Amendments. We can't risk that.  If we do not unseat many of the corporate-controlled, elitist officeholders in Congress in 2018, the message they will get is that all our rallies and protests can be ignored since there is no negative consequence for them. The only thing elected officials fear is losing their seats. The election of 2018 will either invalidate all our protests, or it will be a clear turning point for the advancement of true populism in the US.

The most important activism to undertake is turning out the vote in 2018. All the studies show that the when voter participation goes up, Democrats win and the GOP suffers losses.

We are the "saviors" we have been waiting for.  Find one person in your circle at work or in your neighborhood who didn't vote and incentivize them to vote in 2018. You could offer an elderly person some help with their yardwork or housework if they would go with you to the polls and actually vote. You could offer a single mother the afternoon off while you take her kids or treat them to a dinner out, if she actually voted. If just half of the women who participated in the Womens' March did this, it would be enough to create a Democratic sweep in 2018 and maybe even get a few third party candidates elected.

Trump is likely to accomplish some things that improve the economy in the short run, while  the negative consequences of his anti-environment, pro-big business policies may not appear until several years later. This might help him to get re-elected in 2020. We need to capitalize on the momentum created in the past few weeks and on his rising unpopularity. It's time to find the non-voters and get them voting!
