From day one in office, President Obama’s efforts to work with Republicans have proven futile. Now that the Republicans have gained control of the House, the President has once again gone out of his way to extend an olive branch. Predictably, the Republicans have responded with a crystal clear message that civility and compromise are not on their agenda. Senate Minority GOP Leader Mitch McConnell has thrown the first punch with a blatant outright attack stating that the GOP's mission is to make sure that President Obama is a one term president. They will succeed if the President continues to be fainthearted. The midterm election is evidence that the ‘bend over backwards’ compromise approach doesn’t work, and in fact has only played to the advantage of the President’s critics and detractors.

The President is behind in points and can’t afford to lose any more rounds if he wants to secure the much needed support of the American people and his legacy. The President is going to have to STAND UP to the GOP without backing down, contrary to those that think he might come across as an angry black man if he takes a FIRM stand. Really! So be it, if it means fighting to create jobs to put the vast majority of Americans back to work, restore the housing market to one of trust and integrity, and eliminate don’t ask, don’t tell and all of the other issues that we elected him to address on our behalf.

President Obama needs to know that we won’t stigmatize or stereotype him for any political punches he throws on our behalf. For the next two years, starting now, he has to stand up and fight, and we MUST stand strong with him. Join me by sending the President a message that we want him to put on his political boxing gloves and continue his fight for the American people. The Right has been loud and extreme. We have to be louder with the - Truth.
