Conservatives must be playing a game with us . . . a game they probably call the "lying strategem."

That is the only thing I can figure. They are lying, and they are having a swell time doing it, too. Like the proverbial "good ol’ boy," they tell a whopper, and perhaps offend someone or even the entire American population, and later, when called on it, they shrug and smile and say, "Aw, shucks, Ma’am, I didn’t mean nuthin’ by it."

It has to be a game. That’s the only thing it can be. Senators and representatives do not get to the US Congress by being stupid, do they? They have to have some kinda smarts. They have to know the actual truth, or at least they have to have the decency keep their mouths shut on matters about which they know nothing, wouldn’t you think?

Yet, they say the damnedest, most ludicrous things. One of them says it, and then they all parrot the same thing, and then it gets on Fox "news," and it gets played over and over and over. What a hoot!

What a joke. It’s great theater. Just keep ‘em laughing, I’m sure they are saying. In the end we’ll all get standing O’s.

Back in their caucus, they are high-fiving each other, flinging their arms about each other, slapping their knees, and laughing their guts out til they wee-wee in their little panties. Score one more for the Gang Of Prevaricators (GOP).

Conservatives believe that they are the rightful heirs, that they are going to prevail, going to reduce the nation’s dependence on big government, going to be seen as heroes (they think). They see this interim while the impostor Obama is in office as dangerous for the nation, as a sorry tale being foist on an unwary public, as a dire warning – if Americans will heed it – about the many perils of "progress." They think they might as well lighten it up for us for a while, just to keep us on our toes.

We will be back in, they tell themselves, let’s just play the game.

It is like they are having a contest to see which of them can out-preposterous the others – Rush Limbaugh, Glen Beck, Sean Hannity, Sarah Palin, Michelle Bachman, Ann Colton, and various other congresspeople, senators, and right-wing hacks who get invited to do their thing on cable news stations.

Their strategy is clear: tell lies faster than Liberals can refute them. Confuse the issue. Confuse politics. Confuse the public. Drive the public to the point of being fed up, into throwing up their hands and walking away, into not even voting, in effect into ceding the next election to the lying hypocritical Republicans! With that strategy, yes, they can see how, next time, they win.

Along the way, if their lies get refuted, they just devolve the issue into "he said, she said," and keep parroting the same old lie. If their lie gets exposed by actual truth, their answer will be, "Hey, I’m just saying what everybody else is saying. If you believe all of that, then shame on you. Don’t blame me."

"I mean, I have not actually seen Obama’s birth certificate, so what am I supposed to say?" Well, other than your own birth certificate if you have one, joker, unless you have worked in a passport office, just how many birth certificates have you actually seen, you preposterous jerk, you?
