In an earlier message, I wrote about an imaginary Ship of State piloted by Barack Obama where all of us together shared a common fate. In that message entitled Leviathan, some of the GOP passengers were doing everything in their power to sabotage the workings of the ship in order to replace President Obama as captain. They were willing to run the ship aground or sink it to attain their goal.
Now they have gone even further. They are attempting to destroy or weaken all the elements of the safety net, Social Security, Medicare, the EPA, the FDA, the Federal Reserve, the SEC etc., in fact, all the elements of government regulation and citizen protections. To add insult to injury, they are even demanding that their fares (taxes) be reduced to rates below what passengers in lower decks and steerage are paying. It is all part of their master plan to destroy our faith in government. If we lose faith in government, we will stop funding it and defending it.
