Murphy’s Law:
In my 30 somewhat years upon the planet I have been able to take stock on the human psyche. I make it a point to be a sociologist. I have traveled and lived all throughout the United States to further my understanding. The sentiment of remoteness from our politicians is nationwide. While digging at the senate level for reprieve, I somewhat neglected the figureheads. Policies and financial backing stems and trickles down from the top. It’s like that in business, sports, education, sanitation, etcetera. American life is branded with politics and nepotism. Making a living is hard enough, and to worry about the upper-elites and policies being passed moves to the back of the line in regards to priorities. Especially when you’re worried about putting food on your table for the week. How can we vote in a right state of mind if we are too burnt out to do our due diligence and find out the facts on the politicians affecting us? The internet is an outstanding tool for information, but again, who has the time, let alone the energy to spend web browsing? I would say to look to the media, but shamefully we can only believe half of what we see and hardly much of what we hear. Media is big business and used to install fear and hate in the hearts and minds of Americans. Why do the news channels run the same seven stories all day? Flavor of the day I guess, a silly game. Let’s get back to the focus on the figurehead. It’s easy to rant once I've gotten started, all of the issues are interconnected; the fear, hate and confusion of society.

The great Obama let down: My lasting impression of President Obama comes from a 60 Minute episode in December 2011, in which Obama lies to an un-phased, and focused Steve Kroft about the Guantanamo Bay torture camp in saying; “I have said repeatedly, that I intend to close Guantanamo and I will follow through on that.”
There have been 242 prisoners since you took office. When will that be sir?
Honesty is fool’s gold.
But, we must remember it is war out there, I can’t sit here and comment on war time strategies. But a promise is a promise. "Let me say this as plainly as I can: by August 31, 2010, our combat mission in Iraq will end,” "Combat mission is a term of subterfuge. So, no more attack missions? What about nighttime raids on Al-Qaeda and other enemy strongholds? Iraq is still dangerous. Probably more so since the U.S.’ invasion on the Republic. The term IED is also one I wish I have never heard of. (improvised explosive device) So why did we really occupy Mesopotamia? Maybe we felt we were being left out of the history books with the other great human civilizations centuries before us. Afghanistan on the other hand seems like a dirty word, we don’t hear it too often.

The healthcare ruse has been the focus in the media for a while now. Fines in regards to not having health insurance, is more of an old school parliament taxing tactic than civil progress.
An adult who does not have health insurance by 2014 would be penalized $95 or 1 percent of income, whichever is greater, so long as the amount does not exceed the price tag of a basic health plan. But by 2016, the penalty increases to $695 for an uninsured adult, and up to $2,085 per household, or 2.5 percent of income, whichever is greater. About 4 million Americans are expected to pay the tax penalty as the rule emerges in 2016, which will bring in about $54 billion to help offset the $1.7 trillion, 10-year cost of the act *according to the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office.

I’ve been reading the court’s decision, the mandate just doesn’t sit right. I can feel the grip of the government getting stronger around us. The fact that Chief Justice Roberts was nominated by George W. Bush in 2005 doesn’t make this sit any better. The seats of Justice aren’t concerned with the people, it's not their job, it was our job to elect those putting these bills in front of them. We make our own bed so to speak. I don’t see this bill as an attack on the middle class, more on the poor or those unemployed. No free rides in this country, is the gist of it. The fines for those without insurance aren’t bad at first, it’s the upcoming years when the increase comes. Also, seniors will feel Medicare cuts of $500 billion. Young Americans can expect a yearly premium increase of $504, and 30% of employers plan to drop coverage in 2014 and the Congressional Budget Office (CBO) estimates 800,000 jobs lost over the next decade because of the act, leaving more people without insurance, forced to face the fines.

It’s like the government is looking to squeeze as much as they can out of their “employees,” I mean citizens. But this decision reflects worse on the Supreme Court if anything in regards with the people, if you disagree with the decision of course. Anti-Obama cohorts already see him as a socialist. They expected this. Regardless of how bad this bill is I still wouldn’t vote for Romney. There has to be another option and I’ll continue to search, but time is running out. There’s only about four months left. The fear is here. Not that I expected parliament to change for at least another four years.
