Are Republicans a suicide cult ?

Trump disagrees with Intelligence officials on Iran, ISIS, North Korea, and that climate is a world-wide threat.

The IPCC report ¨ written by 91 authors and 40 review editors, ... 133 contributing authors, 6,000 scientific references, and was subject to over 42,000 expert and government review comments before publication.¨ Estimates are that we have 12 years left until the point of no return

Trump doesn´t believe that, and Republicans support him. Instead, he has opened off-shore and Arctic drilling, encouraged coal burning, broke down environmental protections, and made the US the only country not in the Paris Agreement. The IPCC report was probably too optimistic.

Republicans don´t just deny the science, they suppress it by scrubbing it from websites, censor people with expertise, and defund on-going research.

Across North Africa, the Middle East, including parts of China and Australia, temperature rise is making large areas uninhabitable, water is becoming scarce as glacier melt dries up, great rivers and aquifers are exhausted. Crop failures cause food crisis. Climate collapse will make mass migration a necessity.

Predictably, this is how the world ends. Are Republicans a suicide cult ? Seriously, why would you vote for them ?

A note of caution regarding our comment sections:

For months a stream of media reports have warned of coordinated propaganda efforts targeting political websites based in the U.S., particularly in the run-up to the 2016 presidential election.

We too were alarmed at the patterns we were, and still are, seeing. It is clear that the provocateurs are far more savvy, disciplined, and purposeful than anything we have ever experienced before.

It is also clear that we still have elements of the same activity in our article discussion forums at this time.

We have hosted and encouraged reader expression since the turn of the century. The comments of our readers are the most vibrant, best-used interactive feature at Reader Supported News. Accordingly, we are strongly resistant to interrupting those services.

It is, however, important to note that in all likelihood hardened operatives are attempting to shape the dialog our community seeks to engage in.

Adapt and overcome.

Where do they think they're going to live? I'm really puzzled by this. Are they such psychopaths that they care zero for their own children?

Sadly, the title of this article is not just a rhetorical question.

Before, I wondered if professional Republicans were formerly human, but whose bodies had been taken over by extraterrestria ls seeking to destroy humanity along with much of the rest of the biosphere.

But then I thought nah, they're human all too human, driven mad by the nihilism of their plutocratic masters
