Dear Mr. President,

I was perusing my usual political news feeds when I came across an article on The Huffington Post that stated:

"Obama Team Looks For New Ways To Fire Up President's Base"

First off, I wouldn't be so sure you have a "base". I don't think those of us who voted for you expected you to be quite so wishy-washy when faced with Republican opposition. We assumed that you'd compromise some because that's what representative democracy is all about, but we never expected you to sell us out to the extent that you have. So my first suggestion is to get back in touch with your core principles. The ones the working class use.

In case it's escaped your attention, there's a major class war going on. Republican state legislatures and governors are on a rampage of stripping away the workers right to organize, collectively bargain and a host of other labor related issues. I refer back the article I mentioned:

"Top Obama aides say things will look better by mid-2012, for several reasons.

They say GOP-led efforts to end state workers' collective bargaining rights in Wisconsin and elsewhere are dramatically galvanizing the labor movement, a key Democratic constituency. Some union activists wish Obama would speak up more forcefully for them. But campaign aides say they think he is walking the right line by supporting unions without appearing unduly beholden to them."

Mr. President...you are beholding to the labor unions, that is if you'd like a second term.

In addition to the attack on labor the draconian agenda advanced by the Koch Brothers and their wholly owned subsidiary, The Tea Party, are intent on destroying Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, and ANY other government program that helps the very old, the very poor, the very young and anyone who still suffers from the grave misfortune of having to work for a living.

These people are looking for someone, ANYNONE who will stand and defend them in these tough, economic times. Stand for them and your base will expand exponentially. The common people have no heroes in the Tea Party. That Astro-Turf movement only exists to serve the whims of the very wealthy. You may know some of them. They're the ones who caused the financial mess the country is in the first place. Since then the Tea Party politicians are seeking any means necessary to reward them for selling out the interests of our great nation in the name of greed and corruption.

Yes, Mr. President, We are the many, They are the few, but the very rich. It's time to take a long look at which side is most likely to grant you another turn at the wheel. The Democratic Party used to stand for the working class, the unions, the poor, etc. I think it's core membership still does. So I'm suggesting to you and all the other so-called Democratic politicians, that you return to those beliefs and principles.

At the rallies in Madison a week ago 100,000+ people showed up to voice their anger and disapproval of the corporate attack on their very basic rights as American citizens. At demonstrations all over the country since, many more came. In Missouri, they were heard and the drastic measures were turned back. The fight rages on in Michigan, Ohio, Indiana and in many other states.

Will you find your voice? You had great one while you were campaigning. We often wonder were that voice went.

Thank you,

Jeff Kaye

P.S. Might be good time to find those comfortable walking shoes.....
