Bay Area and San Francisco Residents Oppose Bombing Syria

Monday, 09 September 2013 04:11
Last Wed, Sep. 4, 2013, The Senate Foreign Relations Committee supported President Obama's push to win Congressional approval by passing an initial resolution authorizing a limited military response.

Today, Monday/ Sep. 9, 2013, the debate on whether to vote to bomb Syria moves to the full Congress.

In last week's Congressional testimony, Republicans seemed less resolved to approve a resolution to bomb Syria than in the democratic-led chamber where San Francisco Congressperson Nancy Pelosi holds enormous power. Democrats are expected to pass the resolution.

Polls show the American people are against bombing Syria. In the video accompanying this piece, a protestor says San Franciscans firmly oppose starting another war with bombs. Yet, Congressional representatives of the people, Feinstein and Pelosi, persist in pushing for a Syrian military strike.

City and State representatives' votes seem to run counter to the peoples' voice.

San Franciscans and Californians are calling Congress and the White House ceaselessly using their own voices to oppose another war.

On, Sat/ Sep. 7, 2013, I interviewed nine Bay Area residents and San Franciscans protesting outside Congressperson Nancy Pelosi's Pacific Heights home. They demanded Pelosi stop using her considerable political clout to promote the bombing of Syria.

One protestor stated that Pelosi must have seen demonstrators massed at her house because, apparently, she fled in her car.

These protestors also had harsh words for Senator Dianne Feinstein who circulated photos of bodies of Syrian children apparently killed by Saran gas. One veteran who suffers PTSD and will do anything to prevent war noted that now that scores of children have been gassed to death, Feinstein shows little concern about bombing Syrian children left alive.

The protestors marched from Pelosi's home to Feinstein's mansion only a few blocks away. They hung a blue fluorescent sign from her garden balcony projecting NO WAR ON SYRIA across San Francisco Bay.

To get an idea where the Bay Area stands on this debate, please view the video with this article's headline.
