Society & Religion- Diseased By Abrasive Aggression And Violence

Abrasive aggression is a mental health problem that has become a trend- it dominates many debates and conversations that people have with each other and often creates and spreads anger and conflict.

The internet has become a popular tool to spread that abrasive aggression. The calm and considerate approach is far more difficult quality to master. The World has a long way to go yet to making calm and considerate debates and conversations the trend. Politicians, media pundits and television/movies pump out the abrasive aggression and now it dominates as the most popular way for people to conduct themselves. Comedy and music can pull people away from the conflict, yet people often spend more time being abrasive and aggressive- and create more anger than seeing the funnier, more musical or entertaining side of life.

Cross-talk is rude and makes people angry- it is inconsiderate to interrupt somebody who is talking calmly with a barrage of abrasive aggression. We see this a lot in politics and in the media. Abrasive and aggressive approach to conversation and debate is not a winning ticket in my opinion. Politicians use aggression in debate. Media braodcast heated aggressive debates, and television programming often 'teaches' society too much anger, abrasiveness and aggression from day-to-day, and has become a type of a mental health danger that society is being dominated and brainwashed or conditioned by. Future generations will merely learn the format of aggressiveness as it continues to dominate as a popular communicational trend in society.

Heated debate when it comes to religion has led to dangerous conflict of opinions. It really is your own choice to be religious or not, or not believe in a super-being, or not worship the State...and nobody has the right to be abrasive and aggressive towards your own freedom of choice. Unfortunately some who claim to be religious and loyal to their faith want to dominate over other religions or beliefs.

Religion has become diseased with conflict. The violence committed by people in the 'name of their religion' only makes a mockery of their own belief in God. We are taught strength, courage and honour from religious studies- but the belief in your own religion or faith does not mean that you can kill others. People who kill in the name of their religion or faith are surely only insulting, hurting and offending God. People have the right to believe whatever they want and should not be attacked for their choices. From my religious education I never learnt to dominate or offend, and I learnt to ignore conflict.

In today's 'modern' society we are being dragged back into the dark ages where people were brutal and violently dominant towards each other- and the internet is a tool which allows people to promote their aggressive brutal pursuit of dominance. We cannot force people to stop their abrasive opinions, so it is up to people to prevent provoking anger and conflict. You have to beware when you are getting pulled into online debate on Facebook or Twitter or example.

Today's society is a mix of aggressive competitiveness, abrasive and insulting opinion, with criticism of each other in our lifestyle choice- the way we dress, look and live our lives. People often focus in on and practice their inner dominant, aggressive spirit so much that it destroys others around them. Many people combat their inner aggression with prayer, music, comedy- and some people chose to detach themselves from anger and stress by using drugs or alcohol, and all we are doing is trying to choose what is best for ourselves.

What I choose to do from day to day will not be correct or fulfilling for all in society, and I do not dictate to anybody how to become like me, nor would I support violence or conflict in achieving a political, personal or religious pursuit. I write about societal issues, world issues, human rights issues because I know people seek answers, and they will find some of the answers on the internet, from writers like myself, or from journalists, or in a library- or perhaps from talking to somebody face to face.

The old saying in Britain 'wind your neck in' is used to tell somebody to calm down. Anger begets anger, violence begets violence. Perhaps people should 'wind their necks in' more often - calm yourself down somehow. Relaxation therapy, music, prayer, or just lie down and sleep off your problems for a while. The trend of competitive aggression in society often only creates anger and violence. Religion should not be dominated by political agenda- and religion should not be infected with violent conflict driven by political or ideological pursuit of domination- but unfortunately, it is, and that is a subject for a really good debate. Just try to keep the debate calm, sensible, considerate and productive.
