The water meter (http://readersupportednews.org/component/articleman/?task=newwas) 50 yards from the street. The line had existed there for the last 60 years. Well if anyone had any common sense, they would realize any agitatihttp://readersupportednews.org/component/articleman/?task=newon would cause a problem. My Uncle is 95 years old, a veteran of World War 2. The City Utility Office decided they needed to put a new meter in by the street. They didn't need to drive up the dirt driveway, to sit in the vehicle and get the reading of usage. So Mr. News started getting higher and higher water bills. After a few months the leak was bad enough he decided to turn off the water at his old (Still Installed) meter. I had been living with him. I didn't know a new meter had been installed. Well the Utility Company told him it was his responsibility, because they were only responsible for the line to the meter. Well the difference in the amount of water between the one they put in, and the old one, will prove it was their fault, and not his responsibility to pay for the new water line. WHICH HE DID REPLACE. Costing $3,000.00. Plus the water bills totaling another $3,000.00. He couldn't stay there anymore. The Water Company wouldn't turn on the water until he paid the bill for the water. Mr. New is a real GOOD man. He was there with the BIG BOMBS. Not little ones like used in Hiroshima. He was on Christmas Island. He should have been helped by some contributions. Even "The Veterans Administration."
