Rich Venezuelans, many who live in a Florida enclave Westonzuela, which also houses a number of expatriates from Columbia form an amazingly powerful lobby that is all but ignored by those who complain about the US’s ever tighter embargo and blockade of Venezuela. Some condemn the Saudi American Lobby, with its extensive funding, or the Israeli Lobby, but the Right Wing Hispanic Lobby consisting not only of elderly Cubans but rich Latins mostly from Venezuela which moved to mansions in Florida. Westonzuela is filled with rich Venezuelan expatriates. A year ago President Trump and Juan Guaido who was then President of the Valenzuela Assembly, declared the presidency and vice presidency vacant to call elections in a month, which didn’t succeed. Since than the US has been seizing Venezuelan government assets to give to the Juan Guaido shadow government which lobbies and enhances the Guaido-Westonzuela Lobby. The US embargo and economic blockade of Venezuela has increased dynamically since Trump.

March 8, Biden gave 18 months Temporary Protection Status to every Venezuelan in this country who came by that date, up to 300,000 immigrants, Trump during his last day pardons granted 3 months. The politicians who condemned immigrants are silent. Those who complain how refugees and undocumented workers from Guatemala, Honduras and Mexico are treated aren't complaining that Biden’s policy is unfair.

The Guaido-Westonzuela Lobby is putting intense pressure on Cuba and Mexico to disavow Venezuela. The lobby is in solidarity the aristocratic governments in Guatemala and Honduras. The US needs to give a lot of aid to Guatemala and Honduras and put intense pressure on these governments to stop mistreating poor people and crack down on the gangs or there will be continued caravans of desperate people clambering at the US southern border, will tarnish Democratic and any reasonable Republicans election chances in four years.

Lately food shipments to Venezuela has been blocked including besides food boxes and all assets belonging to or associated with Colombian businessman Alex Nain Saab Moran and his two sons.

Not directly related to this, Venezuelan Evangelical Pastor Javier Bertucci and his Maranatha Church have been feeding thousands of Venezuelans. Running tight on food staples he tried to arrange for Randy Brinson’s Alabama-based evangelical charity to bring in food and medicine. Randy was pressured out of it saying “It is unfortunate that the outreach has become so politicized,” Undaunted Pastor Bertucci tried to enter the US to try to get help from the Council of the Americas, the Carter Center and hoped to try to meet with Joe Biden but was banned.

Trying to starve Venezuela into submission is cruel, but what ignoring the destructive nature of the Guaido-Westonzuela Lobby on the US may end up just as serious.

One can Google the Cuban-American-lobby, the Miami-and-the-Venezuelan-Diaspora-key-for-US-elections, and the Juan-Guaidos-regime-change-lobby, but not the entire lobby unless one accepts the term I made up the Guaido-Westonzuela Lobby.
