Jared Kushner Calls Kim Jong-un "Totally Unqualified Person" Who Got Job Only Through Nepotism

By Andy Borowitz, The New Yorker

19 April 17

The article below is satire. Andy Borowitz is an American comedian and New York Times-bestselling author who satirizes the news for his column, "The Borowitz Report."

ffering a stunningly blunt appraisal of the North Korean leader, Jared Kushner said on Tuesday that Kim Jong-un was a “totally unqualified person” who attained his position of power only through nepotism.

“Here you have a guy who has no government experience, and he’s in charge of the whole thing,” Kushner said, in an interview with Fox News. “It’s the craziest thing I’ve ever heard of.”

Kushner noted that, instead of working his way up and acquiring the skills necessary to do his job, the North Korean leader had been given huge responsibilities and power “only because of family connections.”

“There’s only one word for that,” he said. “Nepotism.”

Kushner called the notion of such an unqualified person conducting foreign policy “beyond belief.”

“I mean, why would you let someone with no experience in foreign affairs anywhere near such important decisions?” Kushner added. “Why would anyone take someone like that seriously?”

Kushner said that the people of North Korea must look at the powerful position attained by the “totally inexperienced and unqualified” Kim and shake their heads. “They’ve got to be asking themselves, ‘Who elected him?’ ” he said. your social media marketing partner

A note of caution regarding our comment sections:

For months a stream of media reports have warned of coordinated propaganda efforts targeting political websites based in the U.S., particularly in the run-up to the 2016 presidential election.

We too were alarmed at the patterns we were, and still are, seeing. It is clear that the provocateurs are far more savvy, disciplined, and purposeful than anything we have ever experienced before.

It is also clear that we still have elements of the same activity in our article discussion forums at this time.

We have hosted and encouraged reader expression since the turn of the century. The comments of our readers are the most vibrant, best-used interactive feature at Reader Supported News. Accordingly, we are strongly resistant to interrupting those services.

It is, however, important to note that in all likelihood hardened operatives are attempting to shape the dialog our community seeks to engage in.

Adapt and overcome.

This may be the best of Borowitz of all times. The pot is now calling the kettle black. Shameful!

Jared doesn't know it yet, but he has just written his own life story. Thanks, Andy, for the preview. The Fiasco to be Remembered. Should make the NYT best seller list.

Of course the irony is amusing, but in Washington, it doesn't seem to matter if you have experience or not. Take Hillary Clinton as a case in point. She just keeps on making the same mistakes over and over, e.g. her Iraq War vote, her support of the overthrow of an elected leader in Honduras, her pushing to oust and murder Quadafi and thus destroy Libya. And now she and many other Democrats are getting all excited about Trump's bombing of Syria and Afghanistan. If you don't learn from experience what difference does it make if you have experience or not?

Now good sense, decency, honesty and integrity would be useful qualities. Too bad they are so hard to find in our political class.

Sen. Sanders has all these.

Indeed. The exception that proves the rule!

Yes, there are certain parallels. But hey, Jared has a much better haircut than Kim. That sets them apart, doesn't it?

Where does Jared have his part? Trump, with his comb-over doesn't seem to have any part at all.

Same is true for EEVVANK..A.

You know, I can actually see Kushner saying that...

I can also see The Donald, Sean Spicer, Donald, Jr., Eric, and Ivanka saying it, too!

The best yet, by sledge hammer innuendo. But I was about to say that Kushy ought to know, having been around his father-in-law long enough.

You can't make this stuff up. Oh, wait: He doesn't have to!

One of Borowitz's best.
But I am still dismayed that both RSN and the New Yorker find it necessary to label his pieces as satire. The New Yorker started by calling them "The News, Reshuffled"; now they are "Not the News."

But then, the CBC has a program sometimes called "This Is That," which does fake news stories, and the best part of the program is when they play phone calls they get from listeners who think they are real.

Borowitz is marvelous. Of course the New Yorkers doesn't have to label his stuff "Not the News". New Yorker's cartoons aren't labeled satire nor are some of the articles.

Jf Jared looks into a mirror, he will see a Korean, Kim Jong-un. As always, Borowitz is magnificent. What a writer!
