Mary Bottari reports: "Tax Day was approaching and the righties were out to denigrate government workers and government spending. Sarah Palin, former Governor of Alaska who quit her job in 2009, headlined a rally in Madison, Wisconsin, bought and paid for by the front-group Americans for Prosperity (AFP), but billed as a 'grassroots' Tea Party event."

A note of caution regarding our comment sections:

For months a stream of media reports have warned of coordinated propaganda efforts targeting political websites based in the U.S., particularly in the run-up to the 2016 presidential election.

We too were alarmed at the patterns we were, and still are, seeing. It is clear that the provocateurs are far more savvy, disciplined, and purposeful than anything we have ever experienced before.

It is also clear that we still have elements of the same activity in our article discussion forums at this time.

We have hosted and encouraged reader expression since the turn of the century. The comments of our readers are the most vibrant, best-used interactive feature at Reader Supported News. Accordingly, we are strongly resistant to interrupting those services.

It is, however, important to note that in all likelihood hardened operatives are attempting to shape the dialog our community seeks to engage in.

Adapt and overcome.

The two enemies of the people are criminals and government, so let us tie the second down with the chains of the Constitution so the second will not become the legalized version of the first.

Thomas Jefferson.....

Thanks to the Stupremes we now have "the best govt money can buy."

If TJ or any of the other founding fathers could have foreseen what this country has turned into, I seriously doubt that there would have been a revolt against England. If Lincoln had lived no doubt the war profiteers who controlled the radical Repugs would have had him impeached for opposing their takeover of the country and seeing that no one was really freed by a war that cost 600,000 and more lives to make them the richer. Here we are again but the casualty total SO FAR is lots lower. ONE American dying for the interests of Wall Street or any other country is ONE TOO MANY!

That's disgustingly true, giraffe2012 and in deo veritas, our Founders would have been appalled at what we've become in the name of 'national security' and oil. Maj. Gen. Smedley Butler (USMC), twice decorated with the Congressional Medal of Honor and author of "War is a Racket," had it right:

"War is a racket. It always has been.

"It is possibly the oldest, easily the most profitable, surely the most vicious. It is the only one international in scope. It is the only one in which the profits are reckoned in dollars and the losses in lives.

"A racket is best described, I believe, as something that is not what it seems to the majority of the people. Only a small 'inside' group knows what it is about. It is conducted for the benefit of the very few, at the expense of the very many. Out of war a few people make huge fortunes."
-- Maj. Gen. Smedley D. Butler, "War is a Racket."

Sadly, it's still true today -- naive young men and women are dying and coming home maimed for life so that vicious corporations can make huge profits from Iraq and the Af-Pak wars.

She's much more than that. Look here at the expose of SP and her grooming for the role of Global Management Team cheerleader. Truly scary, truly important back-story. http://intheknow7.wordpress.com/

Palin in Wisconsin amounts to a gussied up "street-Walker. " You do not have to spread your legs to be a prostitute. All you have to do is spread your lies with your big, inane mouth.

Palin is a talker
Spewing toxic, pompous stew
Walker is a squawker
A shill and cross-eyed fool

Place the two together
And it becomes a good bet
They won't stray far from tether
Brothers Koch have firmly set

The new "Grass Roots": Rent-a-twit surrounded by drapes and using up-close mikes. Perhaps more accurately, Buy-a-twit.

Have you heard the one about a CEO, a Tea Party member and a union worker sitting down together at a cafe? A plate with a dozen cookies is placed in the center of the table. The CEO grabs 11 cookies, jams them all in his pocket, then whispers to the Tea Partier: "Watch out for that union guy or he'll steal your cookie."

Palin the shill, shrill, mouthpiece of big business & small minds is losing her credentials with the right wing Tea Baggers who once idolized the ground she stomped on. If someone is too crazy for the I got mine & to hell with anybody else crowd then that is saying a loud mouth full. Pushed out of the limelight by the likes of The Donald has to be hitting poor Sarah right where it hurts her the most: her pocketbook.

Ms. Bottari is obviously ignorant. The Koch's focus their political contributions on supporting free market economics while Ms. Palin always loved getting all those oil revenues, a decidedly non-freemarket postion. Palin and the Kochs are worlds apart and trying to conjoin them at the hip just displays the blissful naivete of the author.

lee nason, construction coordinator, umassd.edu,

You might want to tell palin and the cochs that they aren't conjoined at the hip. They seem to disagree with you.

Ms. Bottari should have quoted what Lincoln said in his First State of the Union Address, Dec. 3, 1861, on the subject of labor and capital:

"Labor is prior to and independent of capital. Capital is only the fruit of labor, and could never have existed if labor had not first existed. Labor is the superior of capital, and deserves much the higher consideration."
--Abraham Lincoln

Too bad Republicans like Palin, Scott Walker and the Koch's never listen to Lincoln.

The koch's haven't been giving anything but lip service to the concept of free market economics. They've been spending millions in order to get special privileges for their organizations as is evidenced by their puppet Walker's insertion in his recent law allowing him to sell off Wisconsin public property to whomever he wishes with no oversight and no requirement for competing bids.

The koch's have no love for the free market with competition. They want monopolies, the very opposite of free market economics, so that they can continue to feed on the public.

+9 # Dave W. 2011-04-19 21:09
Texas Aggie, Excellent observation. Koch's and others like them have no interest in "free market economics." Its as you said...monopoli es paired with their evil twin, collusion. The day is fast approaching when we'll all shop at "The Company." The "old school" way of saying this is "having the market cornered." How much "competition" has Wal-Mart destroyed? The Koch's and their ilk are parasites. Velvet Vampires in long limousines. Time to "stake" 'em.

Sarah the money maid , she can thank McCain for her wealth. Had he not made her his ill advised side kick partner she would be selling fish back the in the frozen north or bear paws and antlers to china.

Yeah, and whoever else he would have picked would be sitting in her place, probably making the same noise.

michelle bachmann, the bimbo from delaware, some random cartoon character. It wouldn't matter. Whoever it would have been would be propped up by the media as a major political force, even if their only previous experience was as an unlicesensed, uncertified, unqualified plumber who doesn't go by his real name.

+8 # hms 2011-04-19 18:45
Palin isn't a Koch maid, she is a Koch HORE!

And let us remind the world that the Koch Brothers Inc. are the ones behind the creation and funding of the Tea Party!

Sarah has become a parody of herself. She has taken up the role of cheerleader for her conservative movement. All of this would be OK if we were still in high school, but as adults she is just boring. Mentally, Sarah is still in high school and maybe some of her teabag partisan are still intellectually in high school. But the world is way beyond that.

+2 # cydfan 2011-04-20 09:19
To become a parody of a parody would make her a serious being. I have to disagree. Of this she can never be accused. However, I think I get your jist. She is worse than before(if that is possible). At this point though I truly have the feeling she has become almost insignificant. You can hear it in the increasing shrillness of her voice, the growing nervousness as she darts her eyes and her constant moving of the hands. She's worried because she has devolved. Want to know why she doesn't believe in evolution? It involves extinction of those species that cannot survive because they are too weak(devolution ). She has now experienced it.

Hahahaha...Sara h Palin as union sympathizer. Sarah Palin vainly trying to connect the dots between teabaggers and unions. Sarah Palin spinning Gov. Walker into a jobs savior. Just hilarious.

Though, to be fair, Breitbart's delusional rantings did one-up her for sheer lunacy. "Class warfare is not American!" Hahahah....Well then, what do you call it when the corporate state strips workers of their rights? Aid to working families?

It may be best to now buy the wench Palin a pair of knee pads...
