News Corp. Donates $1 Million to GOP Governors

By Brian Stelter, The New York Times

17 August 10

The News Corporation, controlled by Rupert Murdoch, contributed $1 million to the Republican Governors Association this summer, the Bloomberg news service reported this week.

The donation makes News Corporation the Republican group's single "biggest corporate donor," according to Bloomberg.

Large contributions to so-called 527 groups like the governors' association by media companies are relatively rare, said Dave Levinthal, a spokesman for, a Web site operated by the nonprofit Center for Responsive Politics.

A note of caution regarding our comment sections:

For months a stream of media reports have warned of coordinated propaganda efforts targeting political websites based in the U.S., particularly in the run-up to the 2016 presidential election.

We too were alarmed at the patterns we were, and still are, seeing. It is clear that the provocateurs are far more savvy, disciplined, and purposeful than anything we have ever experienced before.

It is also clear that we still have elements of the same activity in our article discussion forums at this time.

We have hosted and encouraged reader expression since the turn of the century. The comments of our readers are the most vibrant, best-used interactive feature at Reader Supported News. Accordingly, we are strongly resistant to interrupting those services.

It is, however, important to note that in all likelihood hardened operatives are attempting to shape the dialog our community seeks to engage in.

Adapt and overcome.

Fox viewers!! Wake up, what you are watching is not news. IT IS PROPAGANDA PURE AND SIMPLE. Paid for with 1000000 dollars. There's probably a lot more, that we don't know about....yet. Maybe you have had so much cool aid that you can't see it.

GOD, I wish that old Australian would go back to Australia and destroy his own country, stop poisoning OURS. He has a lot on his conscience; but he probably doesn't give a damn. A pox on him.

John Fund, a Bush speechwriter, previously pointed out that "while we thought that Fox News worked for the Republican party, it appears that the Republican party actually works for Fox News." And the point is, when a corporation donates millions of dollars to a political party and hires its hacks and candidates as on air personalities in order to pump money into their future campaign coffers, it ceases to be a "NEWS" organization with any credibility or journalistic integrity. Fox News is the Republican Pravda. Even the Russians knew how ironic that name was.

The direct donation of a large sum of money to one party by the propaganda arm of the Republican Party is not news. What is news is that there is no need for secrecy, deceit or subterfuge anymore.

John Fund, a former Bush speech writer, recently lamented that while he formerly thought that Fox News worked for the Republican Party, it became clear to him that the Republican Party now worked for Fox News. No wonder. Fox pays the bills.

Today, Fox News is "Republican Pravda" {Truth), except that even the Russians found that name ironic.

This is precisely what happens when the "Supreme court" decides that corporations are people. And here is precisely another fear realized: a foreigner directly purchasing our political process "legally."

American democracy is a fraud. The US today is an oligarchy managed by corporations, financial institutions and the rich to further their interests.

Fox News, The "Official Ministry of Propaganda" for the Repiglican party, "Independents" who sleep in elephant pajamas and blue dog "Democrats" who jack their legs up and piss on the the concept of actually being something other than Repiglicans in cheap suits. Let's all drink a toast to what "Ailes" us and remember that the demise of all empires begins when the information meted out to its citizens is bought, sold and controlled. Murdoch is the emperor of the world. A lot of "the real people" are going to be surprised as hell at what lies in store for them.

What's the matter? Don't you lefties want ANY opposition to the funding you get from the FOREIGNER billionaire George Soros? You already own all the other "networks" which feed liberal dogma 24/7. You now have some competition. It's about time.

Thank You S.C.O.T.U.S.! This is proof positive that America is for sale to the highest bidder thanks to our Right-Wing Supreme Court led by Justice Roberts. How can John Q. Public Compete with a Billionaire "Fixed" News Media Mogul? We CAN'T! So everybody, bend over, smile broadly and spread your cheeks while we get "serviced" courtesy of Rupert Murdoch. How come I'm not smiling???
