A note of caution regarding our comment sections:

For months a stream of media reports have warned of coordinated propaganda efforts targeting political websites based in the U.S., particularly in the run-up to the 2016 presidential election.

We too were alarmed at the patterns we were, and still are, seeing. It is clear that the provocateurs are far more savvy, disciplined, and purposeful than anything we have ever experienced before.

It is also clear that we still have elements of the same activity in our article discussion forums at this time.

We have hosted and encouraged reader expression since the turn of the century. The comments of our readers are the most vibrant, best-used interactive feature at Reader Supported News. Accordingly, we are strongly resistant to interrupting those services.

It is, however, important to note that in all likelihood hardened operatives are attempting to shape the dialog our community seeks to engage in.

Adapt and overcome.

These fascists should be charged with contempt of court and arrested! Otherwise any semblance of real government in WI is a farce! Now a Packers player arrested -enough is enough!

Yes, but who is going to bell the cat?

+5 # tazia 2011-03-26 19:57
I think the judge might do that. If not, the people of Wisconsin will.

If they aren't stopped it doesn't matter what they are called other than "the enemy". If you know anything about 20th century fascism, you know that what they have done so far are indeed what the Nazis used: focusing on one group as the root of all evil (Jews then and Muslims now), saturating the people with propaganda (Goebbels then and Faux News, etc. now, being used as a tool by the industrialists and bankers (Krupp, Farben, etc. then and Koch,Goldman Sachs, etc. now) and then foreign adventures (czechoslovakia , Sudetenland, etc. then and Iraq, Afghanistan now), destruction of labor unions( then creating the National Labor front where everyone worked for the government and now what they are doing in WI, and trying to do elsewhere). Just what other analogies do we have to see? Hitler could not have even come to power without the backing of the rich!

in deo veritas, Good comment and reminder of the "players and the process" both then and now. Defying a court order. All this and more from the party that touts itself as tough on crime. Direct violation of the rule of law. Of course, why bother now. Krupp and Koch, was and is, a toxic cocktail and Fascists observation of existing laws, that don't jibe with their twisted ideology, is equivalent to Republican exhortations about the sanctity of life.

To hell with Godwin. I call them what they are! Also what I call the pewople described are the same that ruled france until 1789-obsolete, extraneous, and then extinct. They are another disease that needs to become a footnote in history.

Being wrapped in a flag? Only if they die defending the country. Otherwise they should wear their own flag-green with a white diamond and a dollar sign. Instead of the cross they should carry thirty pieces of silver-as a tribute to the God and the country they are betraying with their consummate greed!

Sniffit-great idea for the book but I think it will be published a lot sooner considering how fast these predators move.

They should be arrested. They are ignoring a judges order. That's contempt. They are also guilty of TREASON, since they are trying to OVERTHROW the state government to give corporations more power. That's just what the Republicans in Congress are doing & are guilty of.

"They should be arrested" -- But that presupposes a Democracy governed by law - which we no longer are, or have.

It's time for the working class people to rise up and call a general strike against the state.

Criminals like this should go to jail, not run a state. So WI hasn't just seceded from the Union, but the legal system in its entirety. Either this guy is a total idiot or the Koch brothers have 8X10s involving a dead hooker &/or a young boy. PS:AUDIT THE KOCH BROTHERS!

The penalties for contempt of court are undoubtedly stated clearly in Wisconsin law. Let them tell it to the judge.

During the French Revolution, Madame Lafarge knitted and crocheted while the French nobility were led to the guillotine. She would count the numbers as the heads came off. This may be what the facists in the statehouse in Wisconsin would understand.

Bush circumvented the law and constitution in more ways than we thought possible, but we ain’t seen nothin’ yet!

As shown in numerous studies--and by their behavior over the past 30 years--the right believes it is superior to everyone else, has the right to dominate & rule, and run over anything or anyone it chooses.

Have we had enough?

Wisconsin is run by the Koch brothers.

Michigan is voting in a bill that lets the governor strip cities and school boards of their elected representatives and turn them over to a corporation to run.

New Hampshire is bludgeoning the working man with legislation worse than Wisconsin.

So how long are we going to take this? Are we going to roll over and play dead, or stand up and fight these b*****ds?

Believe this now may be able to push for resignations or impeachment faster. It is time that All The Unions, Voters all have their day not only in Wisconsin but in Washington also.
I believe if the American People would in fact get research done in all the States defying Laws and Rights of American People, they would all have cases.

I must say Governor Walker that you and your Cronies are indeed the Garbage yur Party Represents. You are not a Role Model for any young American studying Law but you will be a Case Study, maybe for Psychology also since you are all Narcissists. I hope you all are Impeached as you are an Embarrassment to the American Government and the People of Wisconsin.
I hope all of you who come here now have grounds to have the Diebolds removed from Use. They are as corrupted as those who got paid off for their Usage.

If they go to Jail, for Budgets' Sake, NO More White Collar imprisonment. They did a Crime let them end up in a Real Penitentiary like all criminals do. Perhaps a cell with a Serial Killer would be a nice first roommate.

This proves there is a divided government here and in other states that followed the walker doctrain. To go against the law just to prove they are in power make the recall efforts all the more important. Say NO to Prosser !!!!

When did becoming Governor make one's will IMPERIAL in the State? WHO is this Cretin Walker to defy the Law and circumvent it? He might have gotten "elected" but he can and WILL be RECALLED along with his "rubber-stamp" co-horts.

Walker, can you hear us now? Mr. Fitzgerald, can you hear us now? It's time for an accounting and when it's done you will be gone. Those representatives voted in by the people, and tasked to do the peoples bidding, but move to harm the very people they represent will be removed by those people. Start packing your bags!!

I keep having this feeling that Walker is trying to provoke a riot so that he can declare martial law. He just keeps pushing the people of Wisconsin, and now he's breaking the law that he's supposed to maintain. These Republicans are monsters with no integrity and no decency, and we must not allow them to prevail.

Quoting genierae:

You may be right about the provocation. Remember that Bush/Cheney got the anti-terrorist legislation (Patriot Act and others) pushed through which gives those in authority the power to pick people off the street at will under the 'anti-terror' provisions. The way that it is worded, if someone in power even has the thought that they suspect you have some 'terrorist' connection, with no proof at all, they can have you arrested with no bail or habeas corpus. They have already tested this at the Republican convention in 2008, I think it was. To accredited and badged reporters.

It has been said that no president has ever given up a power bestowed on him once attained. Obama has not rescinded that power though he campaigned on the issue, like so many other campaign promises he has not kept. So we must be wary of this.

I also have read in different places that during the Bush years a number of detention camps were created, supposedly for illegal immigrants, but they could also be used for protesters. These Republicans are ruthless, heartless individuals, and they will stop at nothing to gain more power. If they gain the presidency and both houses of congress in 2012, which can happen with rigged voting machines, I think we will see the arrest and imprisonment, on trumped-up charges, of anyone who dares to challenge their authority. We may even see civil war if they take over. But in the end they will lose, the people will not only overcome, they will overcome mightily.

tO ME THIS SOUNDS LIKE A STATE OF ANARCHY IS RULING WISCONSIN!

What does eh Federal Constitution as well as the State Constitution say about this chaos out of hell ..the GOP way or no way?

Is Wisconsin now Libya? If Wisconsin gets away with this GOP monkey business, you can be sure it will be tried in other states.

Given enough time, and enough TV - with Rupert Murdoch style propaganda - this will blow over and these fascists will survive and gain even more power. There are enough mindless cowards in Wisconsin - and elsewhere in Amerika - to create the enertia that the Koch brothers are counting on to defeat those of us who can, and do, think.

I can only imagine that this must be the way thinking people in Germany, during the 1930's, felt when they were watching the similarly "illegal" theft of THEIR political system by Hitler and his "Grupe".

Seig Heil Scott Walker.

Seems to me that they intentionally violated the _not_ to publish, and that the way it was published does not follow the proper procedure. The State Supreme Court should tell them that the order stands, and that publishing violated the order, therefore _somebody_ needs to go to jail for contempt of court.

+5 # Westerner 2011-03-27 00:37
Looks like the Repugs are continuing with the coup. Defying the court, will the delusional/psyc ho Guv (Strangelove) declare martial law next? Decades ago the feds had to send in troops to enforce civil rights laws in Alabama and Miss., perhaps Obama needs to send in troops, maybe establish a no-fly zone (a la Libya).

The party of "Law and Order"? NOT! Or at best, only when it suits them.

The Second American Revolution draweth nigh. The Middle-Class Americans have played nice and gone along without much questioning of 50 years of government corruption, lies and absolute deceit. The sleeping dog will awaken and the ruling, powerful, wealthy 5% will receive their just rewards. I certainly have my list of crimminals in high places that need to stand before war crime tribunnals and must displace the current prison population. On with revolution and much needed correction in United States politics. Hip Hip Horay!

Sincerely,
Steve Miller

It's time for the people of Wisconsin to take over their government, folks.

The first step is make citizens arrests and send all the Republicans in Wisconsin to jail. Send them to prison for betraying the constitution of the United States.
