Protesters Serenade Racist Lawyer Aaron Schlossberg Outside His NYC Apartment

awyer Aaron Schlossberg really hates it when people speak Spanish around him in New York City. So, in response, New Yorkers decided to serenade him in Spanish outside his Upper West Side apartment and at his former office on Friday. And by all accounts, it was a gran fiesta replete with Daddy Yankee songs, Cielito Lindo, and more than a little bit of karma.

Let this be a lesson to all xenophobes who feel publicly emboldened by having a racist president in the White House: Respecting a person’s right to exist in peace is a two-way street.

Schlossberg, who has acted like this before, doesn’t seem to be handling the public spotlight too well. Ever since a video of the Manhattan attorney verbally attacking deli employees speaking Spanish went viral this week, Schlossberg has been on the run.

On Thursday, the 40-something lawyer tried to hide from reporters by cowering behind an umbrella while appearing to call the police. As it turns out, and as Schlossberg proved once again, most racist bullies are, in fact, total cowards. Later, he tried walking around incognito with sunglasses and a black cap. But after being spotted by an NBC New reporter, Schlossberg took off in a dead sprint, pausing only to spin around, shuffle a bit, and assess his surroundings like a bully in the schoolyard after throwing a rock at somebody.

Schlossberg doesn’t seem like he’s going to outrun this problem. Managers at the building where his Madison Avenue law office was located have kicked him out. “We have terminated his services agreement with us,” the president of Corporate Suites, his former landlord, told the New York Post.

His law office’s Yelp listing was bombarded with one-star reviews. And Rep. Adriano Espaillat and Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr. filed a formal complaint with the New York State court disciplinary system, according to The Washington Post.

“What was witnessed in the vile video from Mr. Schlossberg, which has since gone viral, is [a] humiliating and insulting attack on the more than 50 years of progress that this nation has made since the Civil Rights movement,” the two Democrats wrote in their complaint.

By Friday, everyone knew where he lived, and dozens showed up for a “Latin Party” outside his apartment, organized on social media. “[H]ispanics are not sad people and we will gladly educate you on our culture and language by throwing a big fiesta,” an invite on Facebook stated.

There was even a Schlossberg piñata.

And outside Schlossberg’s former office, a mariachi band played. ¡Canta y no llores!
