Trump to Lunch With Network Anchors

By Hadas Gold, Politico

The question here is will Trump ask the same thing of the network news anchors that he asked of Trump ... and what will he offer in return? Network news is not bound by the same ethical restraints as the FBI. Valuable consideration is not as clearly defined. Typically Trump demands loyalty. That's where James Comey would not go. Will the networks? - MA/RSN]

resident Donald Trump is set to have an off-the-record lunch with network anchors on Thursday, two sources with knowledge of the plans and a White House official confirmed.

The lunch is expected to cover Trump's upcoming foreign trip. But with bombshell reports about the Trump White House dropping nearly every day this week, the lunch is sure to cover more ground.

The get-together is expected to be much smaller than past lunches with the media. Ahead of his address to the joint session of Congress in February, Trump met with some two dozen anchors from cable, broadcast, Hispanic and other networks.

At least one anchor, Scott Pelley, is moving the CBS evening news show from New York to Washington on Wednesday and Thursday partly as a result of the lunch. your social media marketing partner

A note of caution regarding our comment sections:

For months a stream of media reports have warned of coordinated propaganda efforts targeting political websites based in the U.S., particularly in the run-up to the 2016 presidential election.

We too were alarmed at the patterns we were, and still are, seeing. It is clear that the provocateurs are far more savvy, disciplined, and purposeful than anything we have ever experienced before.

It is also clear that we still have elements of the same activity in our article discussion forums at this time.

We have hosted and encouraged reader expression since the turn of the century. The comments of our readers are the most vibrant, best-used interactive feature at Reader Supported News. Accordingly, we are strongly resistant to interrupting those services.

It is, however, important to note that in all likelihood hardened operatives are attempting to shape the dialog our community seeks to engage in.

Adapt and overcome.

What's he going to do? Threaten? Cry? Bribe? The old call-in-my-toad ies-fire-one-of -them-and-terri fy-the-rest method isn't working too well with his staff, and it definitely won't work with the press.

Having heard Michael Moore describe his interaction with Trump, Trump could cry and beg and say he's sorry that he acted like such a shit and he promises to never do it again. "Please don't do me in. I'll be a good boy."

How many would be stupid enough to believe him?

Good, there is no such thing as off-the-record with this guy, he will blurt out everything on impulse. Here is a great opportunity for him to do yet more damage to himself and solidify the enmity of the media against him. He will insult everyone at this meeting. Let's watch him paint himself into a corner that gets tighter and tighter.

I wonder what he will be serving. Crow? And who will be eating Crow at this lunch? Trump or the network anchors. I've always thought there was some nefarious reason for calling these news readers "anchors." They are truly a burden, like an anchor around one's neck.

Sounds like some major lunch. Scott Pelley moving his whole show to Washitngton just because of the lunch.

I'm sure Marc Ash is right in the headnote. Trump will ask them to go easy on him while he is in foreign countries. They probably are getting the same instructions from their owners, since the trip is to Israel and Saudi Arabia, two sacred cows of US foreign policy.

What sort of Whine goes well with Crow? LOL
