Brutal Police Beating of Homeless Women Videotaped in CA

By The Daily Caller

06 July 14

barefoot woman described as harmless was subdued and pummeled by a California Highway Patrol officer in an incident captured on video.

The California Highway Patrol (CHP) is investigating the incident, which occurred on Tuesday in Los Angeles.

Video shot from a by-passing car shows the CHP officer chasing the woman on foot through traffic. In the video, the officer catches up to the woman from behind, spins her around and takes her to the ground. The pair struggled, but the officer ends up on top. From that position, he begins punching her rapidly in the head.

"He is beating her up, yo," a man filming the incident is heard saying.

"Oh my gosh, why?" a woman asks.

As the officer is continuously punching the woman and grappling with her, another man rushes to help the officer subdue the woman. The CHP officer then handcuffs her.

"She took a left, and the cop, the CHP ran after her, grabbed her to try to subdue her, and then she you know, kind of tried to shove it off...Was she intoxicated? Was she mentally ill? Possibly," David Diaz, one of the men who filmed the incident, told NBC Los Angeles.

"No one condones when he gets on top of a woman, and this is a big officer, and he punches her repeatedly," Diaz said. "I think he punched her in the head 15 times."

Another witness to the incident told NBC Los Angeles that the woman "did not look well, mentally." As the officer was punching her, "she looked terrified...she just looked gone."

The witness said that the woman was not wearing shoes and was carrying several bags, indicating that she may have been homeless.

CHP said it was aware of the video and was investigating the incident.

"As a matter of policy, every time there is a use of force by our officers, there is a review conducted to determine whether the use of force was appropriate," read a CHP statement, according to NBC Los Angeles. "That will be done in this case, however, since there is an ongoing investigation, it would be premature to comment on this specific video segment without reviewing the entire incident."

CHP did not provide details of what happened to cause the officer to pursue the woman. your social media marketing partner

A note of caution regarding our comment sections:

For months a stream of media reports have warned of coordinated propaganda efforts targeting political websites based in the U.S., particularly in the run-up to the 2016 presidential election.

We too were alarmed at the patterns we were, and still are, seeing. It is clear that the provocateurs are far more savvy, disciplined, and purposeful than anything we have ever experienced before.

It is also clear that we still have elements of the same activity in our article discussion forums at this time.

We have hosted and encouraged reader expression since the turn of the century. The comments of our readers are the most vibrant, best-used interactive feature at Reader Supported News. Accordingly, we are strongly resistant to interrupting those services.

It is, however, important to note that in all likelihood hardened operatives are attempting to shape the dialog our community seeks to engage in.

Adapt and overcome.

This is a daily occurance in most cities of the US. The only thing unusual is that this one, like the Rodney King beating by police, is caught on tape. We should all carry video cameras.

Police have become an occupying army charged with intimidating and terrorizing the population. People are afraid to live their lives because if they happen to turn a cop the wrong way they will be beaten, tazed, arrested, or killed.

This is what police states look like.

Very well said. I agree with you wholeheartedly on this. To those who have cognitive disso- nance about it, or refuse to believe that it's this bad, they're blowing babies faces off for God's sake! (If you haven't already, see at least the first URL that I provided below.) I believe that such horrific incidents are going to increase, and that it's going to come to their taking severally-injur ed babies and children away who never get taken to the hospital, but just disappear; if they aren't already doing so in some cases. When people become increasingly evil, they become more and more evil, so that's what is going to happen with these evil cops; they're going to get worse and worse, and they're going to seek to coverup their increasingly heinous crimes even more than they already do. It's inevitable. After all, they are already lying on the witness stand, and creating "crimes" where there were none ("resisting arrest", etc.), etc.; so their crimes are only going to escalate increasingly, as they've already been doing little by little, and more and more, for decades now.

This turning of the U.S. into a militarized police state and one-sided war zone is by design and intentional. Most of the population is being purposely and increasingly conditioned and acclimated to accept it, as it is being, by degrees, ratcheted up. Most "Amerikans" who don't actually experi- ence or witness these militarized-pol ice raid incidents, will blindly believe that it's "necessary", and that it's supposedly "way past time that they took out the 'scumbags'". Presumption of guilt is rampant, and most "Amerikans" refuse to face that most of the people who are the victims of this increasing madness are innocent. They also don't understand that even if the suspects are guilty, they are supposed to be presumed innocent. The populace don't put two and two together properly therefore, and don't realize that these raids cannot be justified where there is such great potential for people being killed and/or maimed; often, too, where the authorities raid the wrong home(s).

Here is another recent prime example of this escalating insanity all across the country, and just one example of MANY:

[The foregoing article's title should actually read, "Woman Says DHS Forcefully Stripped Her Naked At Gunpoint During Terrifying Dawn Raid (on the wrong residence)"!]

- and -

- and -

This madness has got to be stopped, but it won't be; because, again, the U.S. is intentionally being turned into a "battlefield" and totalitarian militarized police state. The oppression and repression are purposely being increased; and, thus, we're going to see more and more mass-murder by the police; in fact, we already have been seeing it for the past twelve years.

The safety of these un-American, anti-American scumbag, corporate-fasci st government en- forcers, much like the Centurions of the ancient Roman Empire, is supposedly more important than the safety of the public. In fact, our safety, and our presumption of innocence, can be damned as far as they're concerned; and they couldn't care less about our innocence and safety.

Yes - this is a tip of the iceberg - how much BRUTALITY goes unreported?
Our heroes from Falluja are back in the USA - beating civilians.

"a review conducted to determine whether the use of force was appropriate. That will be done in this case, however, since there is an ongoing investigation, it would be premature to comment on this specific video segment without reviewing the entire incident."

Boy, don't you just love those weasel words? If the use of force was appropriate? Can't comment because the cops haven't reviewed 'the entire incident?"

Hey maybe the homeless bag lady called the cop a pig and stuck her tongue out at him or something similar that justifies this kind of inhuman no doubt steroid fueled response.

If that happened then hey no problem - full justification for beating the shit out of a helpless women. Hey check out my shiny shaved macho head guys. Damn - wish I could get a swastika tattoo on it.

God Bless Amerika!

Law enforcement in America is like the Waffen SS in Nazi Germany.

& of course he's white & she's black....

This is terrible The cop should have just let the woman play in traffic rather than subdue her and get her off the freeway. Shame on the cop for trying to get her off the street even when she struggles. (Don't forget that we only see the end of the encounter)
+14 # MJnevetS 2014-07-07 09:52
I just watched the video 5 times and arquebus, I don't know if you are watching a different video, but it is a woman walking on the Berm of the freeway (perhaps dangerous to HERSELF) the police officer spins her around and throws her to the ground. She flails once and he punches her in the head 4-5 times with his right fist while she is holding his left arm. When she lets go of his left arm to cover her head, he does not even attempt to cuff her, instead he punches her an additional 4 times. Thereafter, he cuffs her. This is excessive force.
+8 # Majikman 2014-07-07 19:34
arquebus, what "whole story" do you need to know about a big, beefy cop beating the shit out of a small woman (described as a great grandmother elsewhere) to decide this is over the top police brutality?
-13 # arquebus 2014-07-07 10:08
Yep.....but the video doesn't show the beginning of the encounter. This cop may be guilty as hell of abuse, but it would be nice if people waited until they have all the information before jumping to conclusions. What that's line--innocent until proven guilty?
+13 # Glen 2014-07-07 11:03
There are witnesses, arquebus. One man located so close to the cop and the woman he could hear the fists punching the woman's head and her head hitting the pavement as a result. A couple of witnesses have already been interviewed on television.

This was first hand brutality with no excuses. None. No different from the brutal cops in Israel kicking the boy almost to death after he was down. Guess the U.S. and Israel are playing from the same book.

There is no information that justifies a beating of someone who isn't even capable of fighting back, let alone actually doing it (and if she even tried to fight back, sure as hell she would be put in jail for doing so, as that Occupier recently discovered). We pay our taxes for Police forces to PROTECT AND SERVE. Beating people is doing neither. The job of the police in a case like this is to safely and with the minimum amount of force necessary detain the suspect in a way that creates the least amount of physical harm. If you can't see what happened in that video clip was a failure of that patrolman in doing his job properly, and that anything that happened "in the beginning" is irrelevant in this regard, then I don't know what to tell you other than you better hope it doesn't happen to you and others don't give as little of a shit about it as you seem to.

Bullcrap, "Arquebus"! No matter what happened at the beginning of the encounter, THERE IS NO JUSTIFICATION WHATSOEVER FOR CONSTANTLY BEATING THE WOMAN IN THE HEAD! Use some common sense, for God's sake, if you have any of that common sense you were born with left after being indoctrinated, conditioned, programmed, brainwashed, "washed-of-brai ns" (-and/or-common -sense), dumbed-down, and chemically lobotomized by the poisons in the air, food and water, etc.! Far too many "Amerikans" are like yourself and "justify" and "excuse" brutality, and it is perverse and disgusting! These neo-fascist cops are being illegally trained to believe the entire U.S. is a "war zone" and/or "battlefield", and that their job alone, let alone the abuse they themselves receive, supposedly "justifies" their using brutality, including against defenseless people, and women and children; but THERE IS AB- SOLUTELY NO JUSTIFICATION FOR POLICE BRUTALITY UNDER ANY CIRCUM- STANCES! All they are justly supposed to do is justly subdue those who justly, AND TRULY, require subduing; and then STOP ANY AND ALL FURTHER AGGRESSION(S) AGAINST THEM, PERIOD; EVEN IF THE COP(S) HIMSELF AND/OR THEMSELVES ARE PHYSI- CALLY ASSAULTED! *That* is the way they are supposedly to be legitimately trained; not to be out-of-control animals who beat defenseless women and children, and others, within an inch of their lives! Again, that's all common sense!

+6 # John S. Browne 2014-07-07 14:38

THERE ARE ABSOLUTELY NO LEGITIMATE JUSTIFICATIONS FOR THE POLICE WAILING ON SUSPECTS UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES; AND IT IS CRIMINAL! They used to be trained that way, and knew that; but, now, they are unjustly and illegiti- mately trained to live in fear, to be unthinking aggressors and/or killers (aka, murderers), to falsely believe that there are "terrorists" all across the U.S., "around every corner", and that they are "authorized" to presume people guilty, play judge, jury and executioner, and to use excessive and/or deadly force at the slightest so-called "provocation", even non-violent situations! This is NOT common sense, but is the exact opposite, evil insanity; and, with the police, it is now increasingly becoming mass-insanity all across the United States!

Further information on this...the woman? She's 59 years old. So not only a young strong male officer going Mixed Martial Arts on an unarmed and clearly mentally ill woman who wasn't fighting back (and then getting help in holding her down for further beating by a plain-clothes cop), but doing this to a woman who is basically a senior citizen. Ah, America...
+5 # Activista 2014-07-08 00:41
young strong male officer... on an unarmed and clearly mentally ill woman"
would add clearly mentally SICK young strong male cop ...
I cannot imagine NORMAL young male beating old woman ... grandma ..
Horror is that this pattern of police brutality (mental sickness) is so COMMON the USA.
+2 # 2014-07-18 22:55
This is horrifying under any circumstances. This should never happen in the USA or anywhere. This officer should be fired and never given the opportunity to serve as a police officer again.
America what is going on!!!!!!??????
+2 # 2014-07-18 23:01
Shame on the Los Angeles Police Department. Did you forget to do a background check on this officer. How does someone like this slip through the cracks. A man who would assault an older woman unprovoked, should be fired on the spot. Where there is smoke there is fire and this is not the first time for this police officer! He just got caught this time! I sincerely hope she gets a good lawyer and sues the police Dept.
