he Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) saw a mass departure of senior staff late Monday following a fight over the lack of diversity within the senior ranks of the group. Communications Director Jared Smith, Political Director Molly Ritner, Deputy Executive Director Nick Pancrazio, communications aide Melissa Miller, and the committee's diversity director Van Ornelas all resigned by Monday evening, The Hill reports. The committee's executive director, Allison Jaslow, announced her departure at an all-staff meeting earlier in the day. The resignations came after Reps. Vicente Gonzalez and Filemon Vela complained about the lack of diversity in management positions, saying in a statement Sunday that the committee was in “complete chaos.” One lawmaker told The Hill: “It’s the Monday Night Massacre at DCCC.”

Comments

A note of caution regarding our comment sections:

For months a stream of media reports have warned of coordinated propaganda efforts targeting political websites based in the U.S., particularly in the run-up to the 2016 presidential election.

We too were alarmed at the patterns we were, and still are, seeing. It is clear that the provocateurs are far more savvy, disciplined, and purposeful than anything we have ever experienced before.

It is also clear that we still have elements of the same activity in our article discussion forums at this time.

We have hosted and encouraged reader expression since the turn of the century. The comments of our readers are the most vibrant, best-used interactive feature at Reader Supported News. Accordingly, we are strongly resistant to interrupting those services.

It is, however, important to note that in all likelihood hardened operatives are attempting to shape the dialog our community seeks to engage in.

Adapt and overcome.

Too bad they didn't resign over lack of INTEGRITY.
I fear the Democratic Party of which I have been a lifelong member is irredeemably corrupt.
I would not coult not vote for corrupt venal Hillary; now will only vote for BERNIE TULSI or MARIANNE.
nETWORKS EQUALLY CORRUPT; DOING THEIR DAMNDEST TO RIG ELECTION by blocking bernie supporters from the debate parking lot cameras AND lying about polls--they r propping up Warren to block truth about bernie; trust me, they will turn on her soon to prop up biden and despicable harris.

Marge -- Your comment incredibly reflects an inability to connect dots -- by refusing to support Hillary you paved the way for Trump -- and now you seem to be positioning for the same thing next year -- so, have to ask are you a bot?

Fortunately the demise of the DCCC is not particularly harmful. They aren't any good at soliciting money which is their primary purpose because they push a neoliberal agenda that turns donors off. Boycotting agencies who worked for challengers to incumbents is the worst turnoff, but there are many others. Now that they are gone, maybe more challengers can be successful against Phat Boy's supporters in the Democratic Party. (Looking at you, Cuellar)

My own experience with their survey/solicita tions is to return the envelope with a news item addressing how the Democratic leadership's neoliberal orientations are hurting the US and especially the middle and working classes. The word never seems to get through to the PTB.

It's about bleepin' time. Bustos is a "centrist" (read: RW supporter), and now we know she is also a liar for her personal aggrandizement.

What's a PBT? Something at the bottom of a river? I despise writers who think everybody ought to know what each letter in some acronym stands for.

I think you mean "ptb" as used in Robbee's response above.

PTB stands for Powers That Be and while not as commonly used as USA, is not so rare as to earn your despising those who use it.

It's PTB and it stands for "Powers That Be," I think.
