ust days after former Vice President Joseph R. Biden Jr. became the 20th candidate to join the Democratic presidential race, Senator Bernie Sanders of Vermont readied what he hoped would be his latest show of force: thousands of house parties across the country.

On Saturday, Mr. Sanders’s campaign kicked off its national organizing program with what it says are roughly 5,000 events across every state. Mr. Sanders addressed supporters via a prerecorded video that was filmed in Boston.

“Let’s run a historic grass-roots campaign,” he said. “And when we do that, the 1 percent can spend all the money that they want — we’re going to beat them.”

A note of caution regarding our comment sections:

For months a stream of media reports have warned of coordinated propaganda efforts targeting political websites based in the U.S., particularly in the run-up to the 2016 presidential election.

We too were alarmed at the patterns we were, and still are, seeing. It is clear that the provocateurs are far more savvy, disciplined, and purposeful than anything we have ever experienced before.

It is also clear that we still have elements of the same activity in our article discussion forums at this time.

We have hosted and encouraged reader expression since the turn of the century. The comments of our readers are the most vibrant, best-used interactive feature at Reader Supported News. Accordingly, we are strongly resistant to interrupting those services.

It is, however, important to note that in all likelihood hardened operatives are attempting to shape the dialog our community seeks to engage in.

Adapt and overcome.

If another candidate wins the nomination, e.g. Joe Biden, it will be for one reason: the Big Lie that Bernie cannot win against Trump. I think it is possible that ONLY Bernie can beat Trump. Trump has a genius for bringing down his opponents, and he can do so because they are already compromised in one way or another. Attacks against Bernie are rather pathetic because they have so little to work with. Here is a man with a very long track record of working tirelessly for real people; a record of profound integrity. Basically you have to lie to attack Bernie, and while that can be effective, it has the disadvantage of having no substance. Bernie himself is ALL substance and can overcome the smears.

It may well be true that the corporate Dems would rather lose with a moderate than win with a progressive. Trump threatens their interests less than Bernie does. Therefore, getting the nomination is Bernie's biggest hurdle. But he will beat Donald Trump by a landslide--if he can get past the media war and public brainwashing against him.

If the US had a 'shadow govenmnent' like England we'd already be mentally dividing up the younger progressives running for president into future secretaries of state, defense, treasury, labor, interior, education...

They can't all be president immediately, but there's no lack of ability, character, and stamina to serve Democratic administrations magnificently if they work together and refrain from tearing each other down.

If they also feel this and follow accordingly we could have decades of great progressive government not seen since the days of the founders... a generation which also found room at the top for multiple political
heroes... and this time, heroines, and of all colors.

I hope to live to see the next steps of this
vital drama.

With Bernie and AOC showing the way, the old crust running the DNC and the RNC look like something out of a Dickens novel!
