Trump Critic Rashida Tlaib Says She'll Introduce Impeachment Resolution Soon

ep. Rashida Tlaib — the freshman Democrat whose name ID soared overnight when she was recorded saying she wanted to "impeach the motherf*****" — is working to make good on that claim.

Tlaib told reporters in a press conference Wednesday that she will soon introduce an impeachment resolution in an effort to begin the process.

"I think there is a sense of urgency," the Michigan Democrat said at a press conference with impeachment activists in her office.

It's unclear how her effort will go over, however, as Tlaib is at odds with Democratic leadership who have said it is too soon for impeachment. Top Democrats, including House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, are putting the brakes on impeachment talk as the country waits for the conclusions of special counsel Robert Mueller's investigation. It's up to Pelosi to decide what measures reach the House floor.

But Tlaib, one of the first Muslim women in Congress, said all Democrats agree with her reasons behind calling for the beginning of the impeachment process.

"I think every single colleague of mine think there is impeachable offenses," Tlaib told reporters.

"We may disagree on the pace. We may disagree that we have to wait for certain hearings," Tlaib said. "But at the same time I think they know the dangers of allowing President Trump to continue to violate our United States Constitution."

Activists who joined Tlaib proceeded after the announcement to Pelosi's public congressional office and demanded House leadership endorse the process.

Several activists sang an impeachment version of the Ariana Grand song, "Thank U, Next."

Tlaib's resolution will join a similar one from Rep. Al Green, D-Texas, who introduced his in January.

A note of caution regarding our comment sections:

For months a stream of media reports have warned of coordinated propaganda efforts targeting political websites based in the U.S., particularly in the run-up to the 2016 presidential election.

We too were alarmed at the patterns we were, and still are, seeing. It is clear that the provocateurs are far more savvy, disciplined, and purposeful than anything we have ever experienced before.

It is also clear that we still have elements of the same activity in our article discussion forums at this time.

We have hosted and encouraged reader expression since the turn of the century. The comments of our readers are the most vibrant, best-used interactive feature at Reader Supported News. Accordingly, we are strongly resistant to interrupting those services.

It is, however, important to note that in all likelihood hardened operatives are attempting to shape the dialog our community seeks to engage in.

Adapt and overcome.

Here is a chant appropriate for the criminal-in-chi ef:

Lock him up, lock him up and throw the key away;
Impeach, convict, indict with no more delay.
Try the bum and make the beggar pay.

""I think every single colleague of mine think there is impeachable offenses," Tlaib told reporters."

I can remember republicans saying this same thing about Obama. They spent 8 years trying to ratchet up the pressure for impeachment against Obama. The questioned Obama's birth certificate and his college grades from Columbia, just as now Borowitz is questioning Trump's elementary school diploma.

I wish representatives like Tlaib would just acknowledge that Trump won and then get going on making the Demo party responsive to the issues that really matter to most Americans. Some democrats are doing this and they need her help. Impeachment may satisfy some visceral hatred for Trump and some wish for vengeance for Hillary's humiliating defeat, but they don't help Americans. We need all the momentum we can get to do the following:

1. end the forever wars all over the globe and transform the US from a militarized society into a green society.

2. implement Medicare for all. This means ending for profit medical insurance companies. This means transforming about 20% of the US economy -- a huge job.

3. Develop new and comprehensive immigration laws.

4. disband the Dept. of Homeland Security and return all of its functions to the departments they came from.

5. rebuild the crumbling physical infrastructure.

6. transform US schools. The US ranks very low in education. Fix that.

Forget Trump. He's a lame duck. Demos have their own work to do.

But also impeach Trump. Your six points constitute essential walking; tying up Trump from doing further damage and obstruction, although necessary, should at this point be as easy as chewing gum.

That would be poetic justice if she succeeds; having a Muslim bring him down...and a woman as well..

She is jumping the gun, it is too soon to begin impeachment. We must wait for more specific info of Trump's misdeeds and corruption to become public and his criminality to become not mere suspicion but details of proven fact. Pressure must build against him within the Republican party. Only then should the threat of impeachment be raised to create pressure against Trump to resign as did Nixon.

We don't have to wait. He has committed obstruction of justice on twitter. He is in open defiance of the emoluments clause. Just get started more will follow.
