Michael Moore: Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez Is Now a Leader of the Democratic Party

ichael Moore declared Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) the leader of the Democratic party in an interview on MSNBC Friday night. Moore says he wished that Ocasio-Cortez was old enough to run for president and that the age requirement in the constitution should be amended so that she could. The documentary filmmaker said that the most important quality in a Democratic presidential candidate is who can take it to Trump.

Moore also thinks Virginia Governor Ralph Northam should have resigned the moment the racist photos were revealed and that President Trump knows his support has eroded in the Midwest.

"I think that people have had it," Moore said. "I think that they have realized that they are sick and tired of living paycheck to paycheck and this has to end."

He said that if you're a political moderate, stop being a moderate because "there is no middle ground anymore."

MOORE: If you're being moderate, stop being moderate. Take a position. There's no middle ground anymore. There's no half-way point to should somebody be paid a living wage. 'Well, I'm a moderate so I think they could be paid half of that living wage.'

You know, on the issue of choice, there is no half-way there. You're either for it or you're against it.

Do you believe in equal rights for women? Do you believe we should have an Equal Rights Amendment?

There's no middle ground. There's no time for moderation.

Moore predicted that there will not be another shutdown and said that he was devastated by the stories of federal government employees going without a paycheck.

"You tear up watching MSNBC," Moore said of coverage of out of work federal workers.

"I did every day," MSNBC host Ali Velshi revealed.

Moore said Democrats have to stop "mouthing" that they "support African-Americans" and prove it.

"Democrats have just to quit mouthing this, 'I support African-Americans,' and then not really doing anything," he said. "We have Democrats in charge for 8 years and during that time, Flint, Mich., the water gets poisoned. The Republican governor is responsible for this and yet nothing happens. And it's an African-American city. It's majority African-American. That's the broad picture."

Moore was incredulous that Gov. Ralph Northam (D-VA) had not resigned yet and pressured him to phone into the program and resign on air.

A note of caution regarding our comment sections:

For months a stream of media reports have warned of coordinated propaganda efforts targeting political websites based in the U.S., particularly in the run-up to the 2016 presidential election.

We too were alarmed at the patterns we were, and still are, seeing. It is clear that the provocateurs are far more savvy, disciplined, and purposeful than anything we have ever experienced before.

It is also clear that we still have elements of the same activity in our article discussion forums at this time.

We have hosted and encouraged reader expression since the turn of the century. The comments of our readers are the most vibrant, best-used interactive feature at Reader Supported News. Accordingly, we are strongly resistant to interrupting those services.

It is, however, important to note that in all likelihood hardened operatives are attempting to shape the dialog our community seeks to engage in.

Adapt and overcome.

Yes, I think MM is right -- AOC is A leader of the democratic party. She's just at the start and her leadership will grow over the year. All of this is because she has a vision and is not simply a lackey of banks, Israelis, or weapons makers like the old leaders, Clintons, Pelosi, Schumer. AOC has a vision that relates to the future of the American people.

But AOC is not alone. She like Sanders are the visible faces of a very broad based movement. The pendulum is swinging back from the neo-con/neo-lib extremists of the period between Reagan and Now. Let's hope that the regime change operation against Venezuela will fail and bring down with it all the neo-cons who have run Washington since Reagan.

Why pay any attention to MSNBC at all. It is worthless.

As a non-American (never was, never will be), I understand that my opinion counts for the square root of nothing ... but ...

Although AOC is a personable, photogenic, verbally adroit person with excellent "values" and a measure of courage, clarity and conviction, it's not mere "ageism" but a sober assessment of the demands of the office that make me hopes she waits a while.

Either that, or she'd better surround herself with a legion of veterans - clear-headed, cynical, cunning, cut-throat "operatives" who can (if nothing else) keep her safe from the merry minions of mendacity who are already massing to murder her political future - and "policy wonks" who can translate her aspirations into rock-solid policies and comprehensive, bullet-proof legislation to withstand the corrosive Supreme Court that your current president* has imposed on you for the next generation.

Smart, sassy and savvy are all good ... but it is plain that the GOP is, for now and the foreseeable future, a criminal cabal that will literally stop at nothing to win the class war for their paymasters in your seemingly elusive "ruling class."

Reason why Republicrytes have been accusing AOC and other Liberals of hampering our democratic principles, saying Socialism is incompatible with freedom is because they want to eliminate the most important socialist program we have in this country: PAYING TAXES so as to makes sure our government can function, serve its citizens well. The only expenditure they see as worthwhile is the military one- just like all FASCISTS do.
