he Federal Bureau of Investigation has arrested Robert Paul Rundo, the leader of a violent neo-Nazi gang, after he reportedly fled to Central America last month, according to an unsealed criminal complaint cited Wednesday by The New York Times. Rundo, who was charged with federal conspiracy, is the founder of the Rise Above Movement—a martial arts-based neo-Nazi gang involved in violent activity during 2017 protests in California. Although he allegedly fled to Mexico two weeks ago, according to sources cited by the Times, he was captured Monday and brought back to the United States. Rundo is now being held in federal jail in Los Angeles. The Los Angeles Times reported that two others were arrested Wednesday morning “in connection with organizing and participating in riots.” Earlier this month, four other members of his gang were indicted on conspiracy to riot charges after they allegedly violently attacked counter-protesters during Charlottesville’s Unite the Right rally.

A note of caution regarding our comment sections:

For months a stream of media reports have warned of coordinated propaganda efforts targeting political websites based in the U.S., particularly in the run-up to the 2016 presidential election.

We too were alarmed at the patterns we were, and still are, seeing. It is clear that the provocateurs are far more savvy, disciplined, and purposeful than anything we have ever experienced before.

It is also clear that we still have elements of the same activity in our article discussion forums at this time.

We have hosted and encouraged reader expression since the turn of the century. The comments of our readers are the most vibrant, best-used interactive feature at Reader Supported News. Accordingly, we are strongly resistant to interrupting those services.

It is, however, important to note that in all likelihood hardened operatives are attempting to shape the dialog our community seeks to engage in.

Adapt and overcome.

Mexico needs to take a firm stand against American emigration to Mexico. Most of the immigrants from the U.S. are criminals and rapists. They should maybe build a wall or something...

Aha! I finally understand Trump’s rabid complaints about criminals invading from the south! Of course he means fleeing US criminals. Doesn’t he??

Does anyone else find it ironic that this Neo-nazi jerk has been hiding out amongst the very people he's been railing against? How is it that even someone of his ilk feels safe in Mexico, a land of criminals and rapists, which by the way, is not in Central America?
