he Federal Bureau of Investigation has arrested Robert Paul Rundo, the leader of a violent neo-Nazi gang, after he reportedly fled to Central America last month, according to an unsealed criminal complaint cited Wednesday by The New York Times. Rundo, who was charged with federal conspiracy, is the founder of the Rise Above Movement—a martial arts-based neo-Nazi gang involved in violent activity during 2017 protests in California. Although he allegedly fled to Mexico two weeks ago, according to sources cited by the Times, he was captured Monday and brought back to the United States. Rundo is now being held in federal jail in Los Angeles. The Los Angeles Times reported that two others were arrested Wednesday morning “in connection with organizing and participating in riots.” Earlier this month, four other members of his gang were indicted on conspiracy to riot charges after they allegedly violently attacked counter-protesters during Charlottesville’s Unite the Right rally.
