Possible interview between president and special counsel has been matter of contention as Trump feared ‘perjury trap’

he special counsel Robert Mueller will reportedly accept some written answers from Donald Trump about collusion with Russia.

The New York Times reported Tuesday that Mueller made the concession in a letter to Trump’s private lawyers. The letter did not address questioning over whether Trump obstructed justice in an attempt to thwart the investigation.

Trump’s willingness to sit down with Mueller has long been a subject of contention. In an Oval Office interview with Reuters in August, Trump worried that such an interview would be a “perjury trap”. However, he has said in previous interviews that he is “looking forward” to an interview with Mueller and that he “would love to do it”.

In his forthcoming book Fear, the author Bob Woodward reports Trump’s then personal attorney John Dowd was convinced that the president would perjure himself in an interview with Mueller.

According to Woodward, Dowd later explained his reluctance to let Trump testify to the special counsel, saying: “I’m not going to sit there and let him look like an idiot.” Dowd went on to express his concerns that foreign leaders would see the transcript of the interview and say: “I told you he was an idiot. I told you he was a goddamn dumbbell. What are we dealing with this idiot for?’ ”

So far in his investigation, Mueller has obtained six guilty pleas as well as the conviction of former Trump campaign chair Paul Manafort.

A note of caution regarding our comment sections:

For months a stream of media reports have warned of coordinated propaganda efforts targeting political websites based in the U.S., particularly in the run-up to the 2016 presidential election.

We too were alarmed at the patterns we were, and still are, seeing. It is clear that the provocateurs are far more savvy, disciplined, and purposeful than anything we have ever experienced before.

It is also clear that we still have elements of the same activity in our article discussion forums at this time.

We have hosted and encouraged reader expression since the turn of the century. The comments of our readers are the most vibrant, best-used interactive feature at Reader Supported News. Accordingly, we are strongly resistant to interrupting those services.

It is, however, important to note that in all likelihood hardened operatives are attempting to shape the dialog our community seeks to engage in.

Adapt and overcome.

Trump would be well advised not to answer any questions from Mueller. The FBI and federal prosecutors only ask questions that they already know the answer to. So why ask them. The reason is that they want to trap someone in perjury. If Trump does not give the answer they already know, he's committed perjury and they have him at their command. They can indict him, recommend him for impeachment, or force a guilty plea and resignation out of him.

Mueller and his Probers can't be trusted. They have no good intentions for anyone other than the ruling elite that they are fronts for. They were hired to drive Trump out of office and asking questions of him is only one tactic toward that end.

I guess Trump's lawyers know this. They seems to want to play nice with Mueller. Mueller is a cop who has said he loves most of all putting people in prison. Why play nice with him. Get away from him. He has no right to ask any one any questions. If he placed you under arrest, you have the right to remain silent. If he does not place you under arrest, you have the right to remain silent. Nothing good can come of dealing with Mueller.

Trump of course will get what he deserves if he thinks he can deal with Mueller.

It isn't just his ex lawyer who believes drumpf would lie out his rectum if he were ever interviewed by Mr. Mueller. Everyone else who has any knowledge of drumpf's past behavior realizes that he would lie about his own name.
