Democrat Andrew Gillum Target of Racist Robocalls Sponsored by Neo-Nazi Group

n Idaho-based neo-Nazi group is sponsoring racist robocalls made to Democratic voters in Florida mocking Andrew Gillum, the first African American to win a major party nomination for Florida governor, with jungle noises playing in the background, the Tallahassee Democrat reports.

Why it matters: These automated calls come days after GOP nominee Ron DeSantis called Gillum an "articulate" spokesman for socialism and warned Florida's voters not to "monkey up" their finances. DeSantis' campaign denounced the calls and continues to push back against accusations of racism regarding his comments.

A note of caution regarding our comment sections:

For months a stream of media reports have warned of coordinated propaganda efforts targeting political websites based in the U.S., particularly in the run-up to the 2016 presidential election.

We too were alarmed at the patterns we were, and still are, seeing. It is clear that the provocateurs are far more savvy, disciplined, and purposeful than anything we have ever experienced before.

It is also clear that we still have elements of the same activity in our article discussion forums at this time.

We have hosted and encouraged reader expression since the turn of the century. The comments of our readers are the most vibrant, best-used interactive feature at Reader Supported News. Accordingly, we are strongly resistant to interrupting those services.

It is, however, important to note that in all likelihood hardened operatives are attempting to shape the dialog our community seeks to engage in.

Adapt and overcome.

This is the least of Andrew Gillum's problems. Two years ago, the FBI sent undercover agents to Tallahassee to begin to frame him up on corruption charges. They laid all the groundwork that they can now pull out to destroy his political career. This is from the NYT -

"He said he met with F.B.I. investigators in his home last year and was assured that their interest was in other targets. He did not have a lawyer present but was authorized by the agents to describe their conversation, Mr. Gillum said. The F.B.I. and the United States attorney’s office for the Northern District of Florida declined to comment."

So the FBI has already set and sprung the perjury trap. Here is the NYT article. It is a wonder if he can win with an FBI cloud over his head. If anyone does not think the FBI is going all out for the 2018 elections, you'd better get woke. It is here, and it is happening now. It is called fascism.
