The Independent senator from Vermont will be in Racine on Feb. 24 to join Bryce and local elected officials for a campaign event. Others expected to speak include Racine Ald. John Tate II and state Rep. JoCasta Zamarripa (D-Milwaukee). The rally is set for Memorial Hall in Racine at 10:15 a.m.; doors open at 9:45 a.m. Bryce, an ironworker, was endorsed by Sanders in the fall. Bryce will face off against Cathy Myers, a public school teacher and Janesville School Board member, in the Democratic primary, with the winner challenging Ryan. State Republicans slammed both Sanders and Bryce in a statement labeling them as out of touch with Wisconsin voters. "It makes sense that Bernie Sanders and Randy Bryce would campaign together to promote their socialist worldview that’s out of touch with Wisconsin voters," said Alec Zimmerman, a spokesman for the Republican Party of Wisconsin. Zimmerman added, "Bernie can waste his time joining a three-time loser and scandal-plagued candidate so he can launch political attacks against Paul Ryan, but it's clear the speaker is more focused on putting money back in his constituents' pockets and selling the wide-reaching benefits of tax reform." |
