The findings, published in the journal Environmental Research, rely on EPA and census data to examine some 90,000 U.S. public schools. The study found that African-American and Latino students, in particular, are more likely to attend schools near industrial sources of air pollution tied to neurological harm—including lead, mercury and cyanide.
