I have listened to conservatives using the words socialism and communism as dirty words to relentlessly beat liberals over the head for years. It reminds me of parents using dinner table conversations to infect their children with their own internal fears and prejudices.

Now that the conservatives have majorities in both houses of Congress, it is impossible not to imagine them drooling over the prospect of winning the White House too. They are already timidly pushing the thin edge of their self-centered legislative agenda against a likely veto by our "liberal" President.

Conservatives always claim equal blame on both sides of the room when politicians embarrass themselves. However, any fair assessment of our system would find more conservatives than liberals in that not-so-exclusive club of shame. There is just a special delight in watching a self-righteous, conservative zealot caught in an embarrassment, particularly a sexual humiliation, slowly turn on the hot spit of curious media attention. I need to cite no examples here, as this cornucopia just keeps on giving.

The predictable attempts of politicians trying to salvage a drowning reputation just add to the amusement. Anyone who claims equal entertainment value when liberals are caught with their pants down is simply in denial. There is no equal representation for this special brand of corruption from both sides of the isle, but the claim that there IS, always coming from the right, is as predictable as a public health statement coming from the tobacco lobby claiming that cigarettes are safe.

So, to hold the newly empowered conservative government accountable to their rhetoric, they must call for the immediate dissolution of the American military. It is after all the largest and most expensive branch of the government of this United States, and it is also the largest socialist institution on planet Earth.
