Washington,D.C After the stunning and widely expected defeat of their bid to defund Obamacare, several ranking republican members of the United States House of Representatives introduced a joint legislation bill on the floor of the House of Representatives signaling their intent to” pick up their toys and go home.” Led by Senator Ted Cruz of Texas, the standard bearing member of the defund Obamacare drive, the representatives introduced souse joint resolution 1234 (H.J.Res. 1234) which stated “In response to the US Senate’s recent passing of the continuing resolution bill which allows the US government to continue functioning after Oct. 01 and approves funds for the Affordable Health Care Act, and repeated bullying and name calling during, before, and after recess. We, the undersigned, refuse to participate and propose to henceforth boycott all activities associated with this enterprise. “ Cruz, then paused and delivered this stunner, “Gentlemen, we are picking up our toys and going home.”
Stunned silence ensued on the floor as many representatives on both sides of the house first met each other’s eyes, then silently mouthed, “What did he say?” to each other. Immediate response was restrained and polite as grown up members of the house politely delivered virtual high-fives across the aisle. More celebratory responses were observed immediately following the overwhelmingly unanimous bipartisan passing of the partisan bill in the Capitol rotunda as several formerly dignified and staid representatives “danced a jig” in response to Cruz’ revelations.
House majority leader, John Boehner was unavailable for comments while several congressional aides stated he was being evaluated for “possible PTSD symptoms.” Nancy Pelosi, the Democratic Leader of the House of Representatives, uncharacteristically demonstrated unrestrained joy as she danced upon the table of the House Chamber following the vote.
H.J.Res. 1234 will be presented to the President for action when approved in identical form by both the House of Representatives and the Senate, both of which have indicated swift approval is imminent. President Barack Obama has promised to sign the bill swiftly and stated,“ I will take a sledgehammer to my veto pen long before this bill reaches my desk.”
