China and Russia will not risk their option to brutally crush dissent within their own borders by lifting a finger to help us or anyone stop the brutality in Syria. Countries run by a Politburo or a People’s Congress made up of unelected strong men can not throw away their nuclear option. The brutal crackdown going on in Syria is simply an evolving example for dictators around the world of one of their few possible destinies. There are not many options for these thugs between a luxurious Mediterranean retirement and getting shot down dead in the street like Gaddafi.
Instilling fear and obedience from the people within their borders is how these dictators stay in power. Being able to control the media is another component of their benefit package. Perhaps our own leaders in Washington, Wall Street and Texas have one eye on the outcome of the atrocities being tolerated in Syria too as they finger the soft linings of their own comfortable nests.
