Until technology changed things, adapting a wet diving suit into a berka, Muslim women except in a few minority Muslim sects never swam in the ocean, much less a public pool. A rare swimming pool exception are woman only hours at the San Diego Y. and in two NY City pools, Interestingly both Orthodox Jews and strict Muslims enjoy these particular pools,

Rarely, or maybe never, will a woman go swimming without a burka just because it is banned. In attempting to pressure tolerance toward modern ways, many Muslim small children and toddlers miss swimming in the ocean and building sand castles.  I predict more advances in technology that critics will label setting women back. Many female Sunni Muslim women never go out without an adult male relative with them. Suddenly or gradually they will soon go out with a relative present only by high resolution video cameras, and a few small drones buzzing around like small birds so a male relative can buzz the head of man getting fresh with an unescorted woman, a problem that plagues Afghanistan and elsewhere. Of course this means desperate fundamentalist women who must work alone, or she and her kids evicted for not paying the rent or rush a sick child alone to the health clinic would instead be more dependent on male relatives. But men all over Afghanistan would hesitate to harass unescorted women, for fear of a skirmish with her relatives getting involved.

The relationship between the Saudi King and al Qaeda and ISIS is complicated, not mutual hate, and US ignorance of this makes it easier for terrorists to recruit. Both the Saudis and the terrorists who are mad at the King for not having a more forceful bite. All three long for the 10th century where Muslims respected themselves, and their neighbors respected and feared them and ceremoniously bowed to the King. Eisenhower bowed to the emperor of Japan and the Saudi King, effectively pulling the rug out from any fermenting extremists. Obama half-way bowed once but many Americans howled in protest. Thus 9/11 ended up being much more likely.  Madeleine Albright wore a heavy winter coat with a hood when greeting the King. If Secretary of State Clinton had likewise worn head covering at the funeral of the king she would have pulled the rug from extremist's angry that the King doesn't get enough respect, However, her political future would have been in more jeopardy. If somehow Americans respected strict Muslim culture as much as we do the Amish and ultra-orthodox Jews and the Queen of England, the al Qaeda-ISIS threat would all but evaporate.

Saudi Arabia and Turkey don't like ISIS or al Qaeda but prefer them being in charge, rather than the Kurds or Iran gaining more influence. Somehow the US boxed itself in the corner of preventing the Kurds from throwing ISIS out of nearby areas of Syria. The Kurds have an easier time advancing on ISIS because the people being liberated know they are not just getting a new oppressor. Ever since the Sunni government collapsed in Yemen the US is helping the Saudi's terrorize the place and reestablish berka supremacy. Iran is spreading tolerance toward Sunni Muslims in Palestine, not planning a bloody, victorious war with Israel.

ISIS and al Qaeda want to bankrupt the US and we are unwittingly cooperating. Private contractor armies are a huge expense so corporate home offices are never bombed like embassies are. If the US turned over the drone war to a private contractor the home office would have to be guarded as if it was an embassy. The CIA noted that bin Laden purposely helped Bush get more votes by harassing him about continuing to read “The Little Goat” to school kids. Al Qaeda and ISIS are overjoyed when they trick the US into inadvertently pressuring more moderate Muslims into becoming more militant and may design an attack in a way that would help Trump get elected. Of course Trump betrayed those who spent money for Trump University. And will likely allow immigrants, who want to work for almost nothing, to pour in while kicking out the sick and the old, and will only allow a huge terror attack or a war only if it would help him get a third term in office.

Al Qaeda and ISIS may very well get the world in the greatly increased turmoil that they crave, that they believe will lead to militant Muslims again getting 10th Century respect.
