Butler County Progressives Censure John Boehner

The Butler County Progressive Political Action Committee voted unanimously tonight to censure Speaker John Boehner for inviting Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to address a joint session of Congress in an action that the PAC says "shows disrespect not only for President Barack Obama but for the Office of the President of the United States."
According to the motion, Speaker Boehner's "unprecedented move," intended to undermine the President, is "an especially egregious act from someone second in line of succession to the presidency."
The motion charges Speaker Boehner with violating not only "long-standing diplomatic protocol" but also common "standards of decency and politeness."
The motion further asserts that Speaker Boehner's invitation "threatens to sabotage delicate international relationships with Iran."
The Butler County Progressive PAC, based in Oxford, is located within Ohio's Eighth Congressional District that Boehner represents. Boehner lives in Butler County, the most populous county in the district.
The motion to censure Boehner was unanimously adopted at the General and Elections Meeting of the Butler County Progressive PAC held on Tuesday, Feb. 10 at the Community Room of the LCNB Building in uptown Oxford with PAC President Steve Jamison presiding.
In endorsing the motion Jamison said, "It's troubling that Speaker Boehner, who has seemed so concerned with labeling Executive actions as overreach, doesn't recognize overreach in his own office."

Motion to Censure John Boehner
Because Speaker John Boehner's invitation to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to address a joint session of Congress violates long-standing diplomatic protocol,
Because Speaker Boehner's invitation also violates standards of decency and politeness,
Because Speaker Boehner's invitation threatens to sabotage delicate international negotiations with Iran,
Because Speaker Boehner's invitation is an unprecedented move undertaken with the leader of another nation with the sole purpose of undermining the President of the United States, an especially egregious act from someone second in line of succession to the presidency,
And because Speaker Boehner's invitation shows disrespect not only for President Barack Obama but for the office of the President of the United States,
Therefore, be it resolved that the Butler County Progressive Political Action Committee hereby censures Speaker John Boehner.
