Commentary on Balance

'Our Mother’ (see below) was written as a counterpoint to ‘Our Father’: to see and understand a balance between Feminine and Masculine spiritual energies which is required for a holistic and healthy world view. Indigenous cultures and shamanic traditions typically held the Female aspect in special regard and considered it closer to the sacred river of life, since females channel new lives into the manifest realm of nature, where we all dwell.

Traditionally, male and female referred to more than sexuality. Many languages have feminine, masculine, and neuter variations of the word ‘the’ with which to add connotation to every noun in the language. Some emotions and behaviors get defined as being more feminine or masculine; however, we must recognize a complete set of emotions within us and adopt behaviors which nurture a bright future.

The idea that someone is all male or all female is a stereotypical dualistic illusion. This is to say the world is black and white; neither gray-scale, nor multicolored. The current paradigm of reality, our world view, is at an intense point of transition. The balancing of masculine thinking with feminine thought and priorities is essential for us to have a prosperous future.

Yin – Yang philosophy is about balancing the duality of the universe into unity, the Tai Chi Circle of wholeness. The Yang male has the Yin female in his eyes and so is part feminine and the Yin female has the Yang male in her eyes and so is part masculine. Only when these two energies are recognized and combined within a person as a complimentary dance or cycling process does the complete circle become manifest as a whole person. In the interaction of Yin and Yang energies a third component Chi is generated. Chi is the life force which is responsible for good health, long life, and powerful creativity. When Yin and Yang energies are balanced in the whole circle of life, there is sustainability where the growth of the human spirit can continue into the future.

So, practically speaking, the modern paradigm is unbalanced and incomplete. If we believe in justice, then in order to be balanced and manifest change, all government bodies, committees, subcommittees, or other decision making groups which deal with women’s issues need to have women as the majority of their members. Women are over half of the population and should have over half of the decision making power. Indeed, for true justice to exist, women should represent the majority of all governing systems.

that our giving might balance our taking
and lead us not into imbalance
in our Relationships within your Body...
